"Wait up, Xi!" Luka yelled as I began my walk home from school.

My heart fluttered, and I instantly berated myself. I was supposed to be over him by now!

I had decided to give up on my feelings for Luka and just see him as my best friend, but gosh, it was harder than I thought.

Luka caught up, stepping in front of me with a small pout on his face, "You didn't even say goodbye to me before you left!"

I rolled my eyes, trying my best to ignore my racing heart, "Sheesh, you're acting like I'm going off on some long journey of some sort. You know we'll see each other tomorrow, right?"

"You should at least be thanking me!"

"For what?"

He gasped dramatically, "For getting you some alone time with Asher," he said like it was obvious. "I had to listen to your friends yap about anime for what felt like forever."

"I told you that you didn't have to do anything like that," I said with a sigh, "But I look forward to my present."

"What present?"

I smirked, "The anime-inspired present you're getting me for being such a 'good friend.'"

"That was just some excuse I made up," he started to say, "I wasn't actually going to—"

"My friends will ask to see it since they helped and all," I said, my smirk widening. "I can't wait to see what you get me."

"Fine," Luka grumbled, "But I'm the one who should be getting a present. I even asked Asher what he thought of you."

"You what?!" I yelled, unsure if I had heard him correctly.

He nodded, looking proud of himself, "Don't worry, I was subtle about it; he didn't suspect a thing."

"Your version of subtle is waving a sign in front of someone's face," I said, "How did Asher react to your subtle question?"

Luka smirked, "Curious, huh?"

I rolled my eyes, "Obviously, or else I wouldn't be asking!"

"Well, he said the two of you didn't talk much and that he didn't know you that well," Luka began.

"Oh," I said, trying my best to hide my disappointment. I mean, it wasn't like I liked Asher or anything, but I thought he'd at least have an opinion about me. Then again, perhaps his answer was rather nice considering the fact that I made a fool of myself.

"Hey now, don't get all disappointed yet, I didn't finish yet," Luka said, misunderstanding how I felt. "He also said that you seemed nice and was curious about our friendship."

"He said that?" I asked, unable to believe what I was hearing, "I thought he hated me."

"Why would he hate you?"

"Uh... no reason," I said, cringing at the memory of my awkward rambling earlier.

"Asher may seem cold and uncaring- which I know many girls find attractive or whatever- but he's actually nice when you get to know him," Luka assured me.

"The chances of me getting to know him are quite low," I told him.

Luka put a hand on my shoulder and grinned, "Which is where I come in! Don't worry, Xi, today was just the beginning; I have a lot more plans in store."

"Wait, that's not—"

"No need to thank me," he said, "although it'd be nice if you helped me out a bit too."
