the driftwaters and sharmas arrived at aubrey hall at the same time, as lady danbury ensured as such. the latter herself was the first to step out of the sharma carriage and immediately make her way over to daphne's 6-month old son, auggie basset. "now, the only reason to endure such a journey is to see my great-godson."
"well, it is a joy to see you as well, lady danbury." daphne greets her, just as the driftwater and sharma women make their way out of their carriages.
"oh, your grace."
"and what of us, your grace?" alison teases, walking over to her friend.
daphne gasps. "alison, i had no knowledge that you were coming!" she is quick to welcome her friend into a hug, as violet goes to greet lady mary and edwina.
the older girl chuckles and, when they both pull away from their hug, is eager to link arms with daphne. "your brother invited me."
"benedict?" the red-head assumes.
"no, anthony. i do believe we have much to catch-up on."
benedict is quick to stand before them, in an interrupting manner. "sister, you have been here nary a minute and now you are already stealing my best friend."
alison and daphne laugh at his silly complaint. "do i detect a sense of jealousy, brother?"
benedict rolls his eyes jokingly, as the siblings' eyes linger on alison for long enough before she realises what they want. "you do not truly wish for me to choose between you?" she groans.
daphne only chuckles and steps back. "i would never dream of denying you two of each other's company. we shall catch up later, countess."
alison notices daphne's eyes dart eagerly over to where kate and anthony stand, before she walks over. her obvious anticipation could mean only one thing; she thinks kate is edwina.
"daph-" alison calls out, but daphne stays unmoved as she waits to be offered a formal introduction to 'edwina sharma'.
"and you must be miss edwina." daphne greets, whilst alison slightly cringes as she comes up behind her to join the group.
benedict, as confused and ill-informed as he is, decides to leave alison to it and walk back to where the rest of his siblings spoke with the other two sharmas. edith and dianna stayed chatting to lady danbury and francesca about baby auggie.
"no." anthony is quick to say. "this is her sister, miss kate sharma." he only looks to alison awkwardly, who subtly shrugs.
