"I'm sorry for being late. I was stuck in the traffic."
I sit in front of him, placing my bag on the chair beside me. He looks up from the menu, closes it and neatly places it on the table, his eyes studying me.
"Have you been waiting for long?" I ask when he doesn't reply. He shakes his head, his eyes regaining focus as they meet mine. He was dressed in a brown cashmere sweater and black slacks, his black-rimmed glasses perched on his nose. His eyes looked tired yet his face gave off a charisma.
His silver Rolex shined on his wrist and I couldn't help but gape at its sight. It looked more expensive than my phone.
"Are you coming from somewhere?" He asks, beckoning the waiter towards our table. I see him raking his eyes over my outfit and I instantly realise why. We had on matching outfits.
I was wearing a black turtleneck and brown slacks, keeping it formal with a jacket I had left in my car.
"Yes. I had to go for the premise verification for Apex's advertisement shoot. The last time I went there, they were having some issues with the personnel. Now they seemed to be prepared. They'll start with the shooting soon," I brief him.
"One espresso and a hot chocolate," he orders, his head tilting to look at me. "You look drained. We'll have mushroom pasta with a side of garlic bread. Make the serving for two."
Before I can say anything, the waiter nods and leaves. "I'm sorry I ordered on your behalf."
I shake my head. "It's fine." How'd he know I like hot chocolates? Was it too evident?
"So, um, what did you want to discuss sir?" I ask and he sighs. "This. This is exactly what unnerves me."
I frown at his words. Unnerves him? What? Me? What did I do now? His lover came into my office not me. What the hell is he getting jealous of?
"Vanya," he calls out. "Just stop thinking whatever you're thinking. It's not that."
I look down instantly. Jeez, he caught me.
"Ms. Sharma." He shakes his head. "Vanya." He corrects himself. "Stop calling me sir when we're not at the office. This habit of yours will come poking at the wrong time. I don't want that. Especially not in front of our parents."
