"Just do your damn job!!", I yelled and hung up the phone. It's damn stressful when you have a high profile celebrity event to manage. But it becomes more stressful when the said celebrity is your best friend, your soulmate.
I sighed, laid back in my chair and started to rub my forehead.
"Your cappuccino Val!", my secretary entered and handed me my coffee.
"Thanks Kathy, I really needed it.", I smiled at her and took a sip. While I was relishing in my coffee, Kathy came, stood behind me and started to massage my shoulders. I sighed and closed my eyes to enjoy the moment.
"You should go home.", Kathy said while massaging.
"I wish I could but I have too much work to do.", I would've gone home but since it's my bestfriend's engagement, I wanted everything to be excellent.
"What time is it?", I asked.
"It's 8 PM.", replied.
"What?! It's already 8, you should've gone home, your kids must waiting for you.", I said.
Kathy was happily married with 2 kids. A 9 year old boy and a six year old girl. She was in major financial problems when she joined my side as my secretary. She's been with me since I first started my company, we became great friends over time. Now she's financially stable as her husband got a great job in an MNC, she can quit but she's great at her job and we didn't wanna leave each other so here we are.
"And leave you alone here when you're a mess? No thanks, I'm good", she sarcastically said.
"Kathy, you need to be with your family, go home.", I insisted more like ordered. She sighed and agreed.
"Ok I'm going but you shouldn't stay late, go home soon.", She said and left.
As soon as she left, my computer pinged indication the upcoming video call. I smiled and accepted.
"Hey Val how're you doing?", Twinkle chirped, she is pretty excited about her engagement party. After all she is officially engaged after eight years of her relationship with Rhys.
"I'm good, what about you? Are you excited? Only a week is left for your engagement.", I smiled looking at her happy excited face.
"The word excitement would not do the justice to what I'm feeling. It's a dream come true Val.", Twinkle squeals.
We laughed at her reaction.
"When are you guys coming here? I'm missing you.", Twinkle asked and pouted. I live in Washington DC, Twinkle and Aurora live in New York but Aurora most of the time travels for business purposes so it can be said that she rarely stays at one place. But currently they're in Costa Rica as they're getting engaged there. That place holds a special meaning to them.
"See babygirl, I have lots of work to do but I promise to be there as soon as possible.", I said.
"Oh come on Val! You're always busy. I don't care! I want you here within two days. I have my engagement next week Val please!", She whined.
I sighed,"Fine, I'll see what I can do."
"Okay, now Aurora what about you?", she narrowed her eyes and asked her. Hmm she's daring her to say no. Typical Twinkle.
"Well currently I'm in Sydney but don't worry I'll be back for your engagement.", Aurora said while munching on her ice cubes. She has this weird habit of eating ice cubes like I have a weird habit of drinking cappuccino before going to bed. People drink coffee to stay awake and alert, I drink coffee to relax and sleep. That's me.
"I know you'll be present on the day of my engagement, you wouldn't dare to miss it, I'm asking about when.", Twinkle said.
"Uh- you see work has been too busy so....
