Fake My Death (Wander Together) - Emma Blackery

Charlotte awoke to her phone ringing, a Facetime from Mia. She sleepily answered the call, muttering a quiet, "Hi Mia." The redhead was sitting in her car, which was strange as Char thought she was abroad. "Happy Anniversary baby," Mia began, flipping the camera around, "Guess where I am." This instantly awoke Char, as she flew downstairs to unlock the front door. Mia hung up the phone and stepped out of her car before Char almost knocked her girlfriend's over as she flew into her arms. "Why are you back so early?" she said, her head buried in the crook of Mia's neck. "Sweetheart, you really think I'd miss our anniversary, today nothing is more important than you," Mia whispered, kissing the top of Charlotte's head. "And before you ask, I've sorted your day off, you've got me all day," she explained, bringing her hand up into Charlotte's hair to massage her scalp. "Oh Mia, what would I do without you," Char hummed.

Mia retrieved her luggage from the car and locked it, before following Char into the house. She brought her suitcases upstairs to the bedroom, where the brunette had already made herself comfy again. Mia removed her clothes, throwing on one of Char's old t-shirts and a pair of shorts. "Does somebody want their morning cuddles?" Mia teased, slipping under the covers. She wrapped her arms around Char, pulling her close. The younger woman melted into her touch, she loved these moments. The quiet consumed them, in the best way possible. They just savoured each other, keeping each other close and safe. Sure, the sex was great, and the gifts and trips were amazing no matter what either of them said, but these by far were their favourite moments. "I missed you," Char muttered, turning round to face Mia. Charlotte brought herself closer to her, kissing her softly, one full of love and admiration. They only parted when they needed to breathe, but then they pressed their foreheads together, looking into each other's eyes.

"Coffee," mumbled a drowsy Char, trying to persuade Mia to get her one so she could wake up 'properly'. "Give me a minute and I'll be right back," Mia responded, making her way to the kitchen. She made Char's coffee exactly how she liked it, she wouldn't do anything less for her sweetheart. She had hardly gone for five minutes before she returned to the girl upstairs, "Here you go Char." The younger woman smiled at her, pulling her in for a kiss. They both sat on the bed for a while, Mia waiting for Char to drink her coffee.

They spent most of their day sat chatting on the sofa, with random TV shows filling the empty silences in between. Around 4 pm, Mia stood up, eliciting a groan of disappointment from Char, "Where are you going?" Mia stopped, turning to look at Char, "I'm going to cook us something special for dinner baby." Char sighed, as much as she loved all these elaborate gifts and things that Mia did for her, it did feel like too much sometimes. "Amelia, you don't have to prove your love for me by doing all these things for me, can't we just order a takeaway or something?" Mia frowned, it never felt like she was doing enough for Char. She knows that Charlotte loves her, but something in the back of her mind keeps saying that she would leave her if she didn't. She had to provide for her, to make her stay, to keep her in love. "Char, do you not want any of this?" she lamented, trying not to tear up. "No no Mia, that's not what I meant at all," Char rushed up to stand with Mia, holding her hands, "I just meant that you don't have to cook for me and buy me all these things. I'm not saying I don't love and appreciate what you do but sometimes it feels like too much. I love you for you Mia, not for what you do for me." Char finished the sentence with a kiss on Mia's forehead. Mia took Char's hands and wrapped them around herself, and then wrapped her own around Charlotte, "So a takeaway it is tonight, as long as you let me pay, and we can still light some candles, it has to be special for our anniversary at least." Char nodded, holding Mia close to her. "What do you want, sweetheart? Italian, Indian, Chinese?" Mia asked. Her hands grazed lightly up and down the brunette's back as she decided. "Hmm, pizza?" Char replied. "Come on then," Mia pulled away from Char, loaded up a pizza place, and handed her phone to the younger woman, "Put whatever you want in the basket and I'll get it."

When the pizzas arrived, Char answered the door whilst Mia lit the candles. The redhead found the stereo, putting on the album Dummy by Portishead. It was one of their go-to's for their dinners. They sat almost in silence whilst they ate, just admiring the beauty of one another. Occasionally, one would reach their hand over the table for the other to hold. Glances, touches, smirks and smiles. They spent their evening infatuated with one another.

They sat on the sofa, turning on the TV. "Hmm, how about Pretty Woman?" Char suggested. "Why do we need to watch that when I have a pretty woman right here?" Char giggled at Mia's response, before taking the remote from Mia and putting it on. They spent the entire film cuddled up together on the sofa, just basking in the comfort they brought each other. When Mia started to lose focus on the film, her hand started tracing down to Char's thigh, teasing slightly. Char giggled at her touch, melting further into her. Mia's teasing continued, bringing her hand further up Char's leg. "Miaaaaa, stop itttt," Char squealed, laughing as Mia kept up with her antics. This continued for the rest of the film, Mia with her teasing and Char with her giggling and forcing Mia to watch the film. They couldn't think of any other way to spend their anniversary.
