— Mate, I'll go back home this weekend, I've been thinking about this, and maybe you're right, maybe I should let all this fall down, maybe try one last time, and if I don't find it, I think its best that I forget once and for all about her
— If that's going to help you, you do you, then I'll see you on Monday
Lando didn't ever want to say that, as much as he'd need it to be, the constant trying to find her over the past 8 years without succeeding mined the majority of his possibilities of finding her again.
She could have moved from there, maybe to a whole new country, probably remade her life from that, and since he felt like he was an idiot, and completely cut the contect, there was no way for him to know.
The start of the new season neared quickly, as he still back into his past like a burning rod of sanity, as much as it hurt, he couldn't let go, but as the days after the stream went by, he started thinking that it all was meant to be, that they were only meant to be childhood friends before the path was cutoff, as much that there will always exist a hopeful side to himself on finding her, the fact that he should let go became more evident.
Maybe, and only maybe, he was going to let it all go.

The days passed over that week, until Friday came around, the suitcase in front of him waited his decision, and despite wanting to go back home, the nervousness that having to brace up for a deception everytime made it a bit more difficult, but the hope of everything falling into the palace it was before still remained, but decreasing each time.
He took the bags into the trunk of his car, before driving away directly towards Bristol. For him, it was a quick ride, about 30 minutes before he arrived at the front door of his family house. Coming home for him was comforting, somehow, was going back to the earth before leaving around the world for his dreams, a therapy of sorts.
— Here's my favorite boy! -his mother said, behind the groans of Oliver, his older brother-
— Hi mom, I also love you -Lando said cheekily-
Inside the house the family feeling wrapped him all around, soothing every bad feeling he had in his head, before going up the stairs towards his room, left in a similar way that what it was back at their first home in Bristol, but with a much more mature look nowadays.
But every detail that was important stayed in the room, sort of like a freezing in time, that room could work as the biography of his life, all the way back towards his karting days, the lower formulas and everything, especially the pictures of the moment he most cherished, like the first one, the first time when all my family was at the garage during my first home grand prix, in my rookie season.
And right next to it in the dresser, was one of his favorite pictures.
It was from around 2015, the same year I moved out from Bristol towards Woking with Max, and around the first races of the F4 championship.
As usual, she always came to his very first race in every season so far, turning into a cheeky tradition that, at least until then, never seemed that it would be broken, until it was necessary to move, to be closer to the Mclaren HQ, that way, and now my sister Flo would also have more space to herself.
Since we were all moving, that was way more drastic than he would have liked.
That picture was after the first race, when I ended up on the podium, and us two ran up towards the podium, without no one noticing, to take pictures at the podium together, sort of what the driver and a team member do. They were, truly, a team of their own sorts.
