It had only been 2 weeks.

In 2 weeks Rhysand had already been feeling the anxiety coming from Feyre down the bond, she'd hardly been in the spring court for long and already he could feel her terror and loneliness, what in the hell were they doing to her there.

The other high lords had discovered he had an heir and had been demanding a meeting which he hardly felt thrilled about, he knew he'd have to take Lavender and that was the last thing any of them wanted to do whilst she was settling in.

On top of everything else, he had hardly been around Lavender because he was trying to take down Amarantha supporters within the Illyrian camps.

Finally he was on his way back to Velaris where Mor and Amren had been taking care of Lavender, well mostly Mor because Lavender had taken one look at Amren drinking blood and had wet herself deciding she needed to stay far away from her, which didn't bother Amren in the slightest.

She was not one for children.

Mor however was absolutely in love with Lavender, she had already begun teaching her how to read and write, colouring in and cooking together.

She loved being an auntie.

Mor had attempted shopping with Lavender but she'd quickly realised that the girl was going to wear what she liked, which was she wore a I heart Bats shirt, and trousers.

The child refused to wear a dress and she really did have a fascination with wings.

Rhys, Cassian and Azriel had winnowed in only to see Mor reading Lavender a book in the far corner about Illyrian wings, Lavender keeping a watchful eye on Amren to ensure she remained on her side of the corner.

"Ah Rhysand, did you .." Amren had begun to say

"DAAAADDDDYYYY" Screamed Lavender.

Amren had plugged her fingers in her ears whilst the small child jumped down from Morrigan's knee to sprint straight towards Rhys.

Rhysand leaned down to pick her up and swing her around "Ah, Lavender, I've missed you!" he smiled, and replied with as much enthusiasm as he held his daughter and looked over her shirt.

"Bats really?" He laughed

"Don't look at me" Mor pulled a face "She picked it out and refuses to take it off"

Lavender spied behind her father and a huge grin came over her face.

"Uncle Cassie" She smiled sweetly with her arms open, and he took her straight from Rhys to give her a big hug of his own.

"Lavey Bat" he chuckled

Azriel had simply smiled at the little girl as his shadows seemed to slowly creep on over in greeting.

Azriel had never really spent any time with Lavender, choosing to keep a safe distance from her, however, it all still confused them that his shadows were much more curious and playful with the child than he was.

Lavender had giggled and writhed around in Cassian's arms as Azriel's shadows had tickled her.

Azriel scowled at them and reigned them in, he refused to allow them to get this close to anybody, but they had come back to him slowly as if they were disappointed they could no longer play with her.

"Has everything been well, Mor?" Rhys questioned her as he moved over towards his cousin to place a kiss on her head.

"Yes, yes" she batted away "Do you mean the last 500 times you asked?"

Cassian chuckled as Lavender decided to hang upside down from his arms giggling.

"LOOK at me, I'm a bat" she bellowed out as she flapped her arms.
