Day 511.

Pip stared at the new, bright red X covering the Saturday on her calendar. Had it really only been a bit over a year? It felt like more. She checked her phone again, no new announcements for the trial. When would there be? These things take years.

She walked over to her desk and picked up her headphones, pausing to stare at the peeling sticker from her podcast that Ravi had designed. She smiled and put them on.

Every time she passed the local cafe, she always hoped to see Cara's smiling face in the window. She couldn't wait to see her again, but she knew it was for the better that she stayed away and worked on herself. The gunshots happened less and less now, but she still had to check for Stanley's blood nearly every day.

A/N - I feel like that part lowkey sucked but I'm too lazy to edit it. I didn't really need to write it cause nothings gonna happen until Pip comes back day 694/695, but I was bored. Also, please pretend that last chapter was day 511 too and not day 401. I feel like it makes more sense with Ravi's character to start dating Selene after a longer time rather than a few weeks, and it'll be easier to write later on.

5pm.

Bzz.

"You here yet?"

"Almost."

"Ok!"

To be fair, he didn't expect traffic to be this bad. He was 3 minutes away. Should he just park and walk the rest of the way? He looked around, no empty parking spots. The cars moved forward.

He walked in, looking around for Selene. She was sitting at a corner table, already starting on a coffee.

"Hey! You made it." She smiled. It didn't look like she was bothered by the time. He was only 5 minutes late anyways.

"Yeah. Usually there's no traffic. I don't know what happened today."

"Oh, I saw it. I actually don't have a car yet, so don't really have to deal with that."

"You should really get one. The grocery stores pretty far to carry everything."

"Yeah, I'm going to. I was thinking of getting a Jeep."

"Jeeps are nice."

He glanced at her coffee. "What coffee do you like?"

"Dark." Ravi probably looked slightly surprised. How could someone be so effortlessly similair to Pip. A smile crept onto his face thinking of her. What was he doing for fucks sake? He was on a date with Selene, not Pip. He owed it to Selene to at least acknowledge to himself she wasn't Pip, and never would be.

"Sheesh, no sugar at all?"

"No," she laughed, taking another sip of the chocolaty dark drink, "Why? Are you a sugar type of guy?"

"Yeah. 3 sugars with milk."

"You'll get diabetes like that you know." She smiled. It seemed so effortless for her, Ravi thought. Natural. She was a nice girl, caring and very charming. And Ravi couldn't even give her the decency to stop comparing her to Pip. He knew it was wrong, and felt horrible about it, but didn't say anything. How do you tell someone you're imagining them as your ex? The ex your hoping comes back?

He snapped back to reality.

"You ok? You're pretty quiet."

"No I'm fine, just processing how someone can like coffee that bitter." He gave her a small smile, refusing himself to give her the crooked one he knew Pip loved so much. Could he ever stop thinking about Pip?

She laughed again. "So what do you do for work?"

"Uh, I'm a lawyer apprentice. You?"

"Oh, I work online for ------. I'm supposed to switch back to the office in a few weeks."

"Oh damn. I didn't know they had an office building here?"

"They just opened one. It's uh...somewhere here. I don't actually know where. I'll figure that out later."

The waiter came by and dropped down two menus. Selene flashed the lady a smile thanking her. She was great, she truly was. So why couldn't Ravi stop comparing her? The same hair, nearly the same eyes, even the same taste in coffee. But she was hilarious, which Ravi considered his job. She forgot things easily- which is why he loved Pip. Their strengths were the others faults, and he couldn't help feeling guilty by saying Pip would've already known where that office was.
