Vincent P.O.V

"Dammit," I mutter under my breath then focus my attention on someone else. "Xavier have you found where the call was located?!" I asked in a panicked tone, pacing the floor and resisting the urge to just leave my pack and run to search for her.

But, I would never do that. I am their Alpha and it is my duty to ensure that they are taken care of while Ellie is gone.

The feel of a hand on my shoulder drew me back to here and now. "Alpha Vincent, everything will work like it should in the end." One of Ellie's best friends, Alice, said in a gentle voice.

Since I had received that phone call a person could say I was in a bit of a panic attack. Not a good idea but it was unavoidable.

"The ancestors are watching over her." Her other best friend, Sam, added confidently.

I could only nod. My body felt like it was frozen from the inside out. Yeah, I may be a vampire and vampires are cold but not when it came to my heart, it warmed from all the love I felt.

I look around the field with emotionless eyes. Everybody was here; her brothers and their packs; Damon and his; even Sean and his; and of course my own.

They went back to their mate's side and started to talk in hushed voice's except for one person I have come to like as a friend.

"Seems so surreal," he confesses with a far off look on his face.

Humming as my answer, glancing at him at the corner of my eye, it was all I could not to snap at him for no reason at all. I've been in an usually grouchy mood and I have a right to be.

That is why I have kept my mouth shut, it is to not say something that will upset anyone.

"What did she say when you two were talking?" Emmett's hoarse voice cracked at the end as he stood still next to me.

"She said lots of things," I mutter. From the corner of my vision I saw him glance at me before sighing loudly, crossing his arms.

"Like what?" Humph, quite the persistent one, isn't he.

I knew Emmett wasn't going to give up so I told him, knowing that the others were listening in on our conversation, not caring cause they have a right to know.

As I go over the details a frown molded on my face, rubbing my chin, lost in thought. Emmett had the exact facial expression as me. The only difference is that his heart was beating wildly while mine stayed frozen.

"I could practically see the gears turning in your heads," Anthony spoke up warily. "What is the matter?"

We ignore him and start to pace the floor. Something was missing. Something that didn't feel right, but for the life of me I just couldn't put my finger on it.

"What could she possibly want to tell me that was more important than revealing the description of where she's at?" I asked no one in particular, frown deepening.

Alex frowned and opened his mouth to speak, shutting it and opening again. "She did explain where she was at, though," he indicated.

I shook my head as if to say I didn't mean that. And I didn't. He wasn't on the same track as Emmett and I, though.

"What Alpha Vincent means to say is that she must of had something even more important to tell him than giving a more of a helpful description of where she was at," Emmett postulates wisely.

A nod in his direction to show he was right. Him and I were on the same page and good thing because it felt as if I couldn't talk with the clouded thoughts running through my head.
