Hey, all! Told ya you all wouldn't have to wait long for me to post another Elvis fic! We're getting down to it on the Elvis Poll stories! Five left after this one!

~ ~ ~

Synopsis: Elvis Presley is so confused after he is sent back in time to 1936, to his parents' generation of music and actors. Among those actors, he meets Robert Taylor and the young Ruby Stevens, and he is shocked to find out that she's really Barbara Stanwyck, that gal who he acts with in his current film Roustabout. He gets thrown into the film she's working on (His Brother's Wife) and gets tangled up in her crazy personal life. Barbara and Elvis really don't want to fall for each other for various reasons--Barbara doesn't want her life to get more complicated after her failed marriage, and Elvis doesn't want to be involved with the older woman he acted with, even though now she's a young, beautiful, talented young woman. Plus, he's from the future! Well, tough beans for both of them. The fire burns hot.

"For the last time, Robert, don't call me Ruby."

I stared a bit dumbfounded at the young woman who was wearing a cherry-red dress made of satin and went to the floor, and she had fair skin and light-brown hair that was in a style that screamed early Hollywood. My mouth had been hanging on the floor since somehow arriving here yesterday and finding out that the date was June 1, 1936 instead of March 1, 1964. I thought the newspaper date was a misprint, but then I saw it on other newspapers in other locations.

"Just a slip of the tongue, Ru- I mean Barbara. But your name is so pretty. Why change it?"

She put a hand on her hip that was clearly prominent as she stood there, and I couldn't stop staring at her. Neither could other people here in this MGM studio film set of a restaurant. She was clearly one of the stars of the picture, and the guy, Robert Tyler, was the leading man. He was actually my savior in this crazy situation. His name was familiar, though. I had definitely heard of popular actors back in the day.

"A lot of actors change their names, Robert," she said. "You know that. Now, let's not talk about it anymore. What did you want to show me?"

"It's not what, but who." He put his arm out in my direction. "He said he's a famous Hollywood actor, but I've never heard of him, and neither has Woody. Apparently, he's been in fifteen films already, none of which I've heard of."

She looked over at me, and I noticed brilliant green eyes. My heart jumped. This girl was so steaming, especially in that satin red dress that was most likely a costume for this film called "His Brother's Wife." This hot tamale started walking over to me, her legs moving under the satin, making it shimmer, and she gave me a smile. "How do you do, sir?"

I had to swallow my heart that pounded up my throat. "Just fine, miss, but very confused at the moment."

Her thin brows rose. "Ah, you are from the southern states. You traveled a distance to get here."

I glanced at Robert who knew exactly where I was before this, then my eyes flicked back to this beauty. "You really have no idea. My name is Elvis Presley. I doubt you've heard of me."

"I'm sorry to say that I haven't. My name is Barbara Stanwyck."

Hearing her say that name made me think of the older gal I worked with, not this young bombshell.

"Ruby Stevens," Robert corrected while faking a cough, and she turned her head and gave him a sharp look, and he walked away innocently, getting sucked into this film that was being worked on and started talking to a man that could be the director. But I wasn't looking at anything else but Barbara, and in pure confusion.
