"I have far more important things to deal with right now. What is it that you want?" Keiko gritted her teeth, the device in her hands on the verge of turning into nothing but tiny little pieces."Far more important than a mission?" Gerard, the vampire who continuously gives Keiko countless missions as if she lives to be an assasin, tempted the Rei.
Keiko rolled her eyes, "most things I do are far more important than the missions you demand me to do, Gerard. You mean nothing to me, never forget that."
"And never forget that only I, know of the truth and location of the one thing you seek the most." Gerard argued back, and the cockiness in his tone made Keiko grip the edge of the railing of the staircase of her home, as if to stop herself from speeding to the male's location and snapping his neck.
"Just tell me what you want." Keiko grumbled, her words causing a victorious smile appear on Gerard's face. Even without seeing him, she could imagine just how arrogant he looked.
"You are to go to the auction that is held tonight, and don't worry, I had my men send you a dress. You'll find it in your room." Gerard explained, and the second Keiko opened the doors to her chamber, she gasped at what she saw.
On the ground, laid pierre with his neck twisted in an unusual way. Beside him, laid a rectangular shaped box, and ontop of Pierre laid a white envelope.
She immediately rushed to his side, twisting his neck back to its natural shape, and heard his bones snapping back into place.
"Was snapping Pierre's neck was necessary?" Keiko growled into the phone. Although Pierre was her butler, one that serves her without question, he had been her confidant, and is her friend. The only one Keiko found loyal after all her years alive.
"Don't pout sweetheart, you know it won't kill him."
"As if that makes it any better." Her grip on the phone tightened, her knuckles turning white. "You had no right to hurt him." Pierre would still be alive, only a stake to the heart, beheading, and the sun are the only that can kill vampires.
A chuckle echoed through the receiver, cold and mocking. "He was in my way, and you know how I deal with obstacles."
Keiko clenched her jaw, the taste of copper filling her mouth from biting down too hard on her tongue. She had to remind herself that rushing to Gerard's location and tearing him apart wouldn't solve anything. Not yet, at least.
Pierre groaned, his eyes fluttering open. "Miss Keiko," he managed to croak, his voice rough from the recent trauma on his neck.
"Easy, Pierre," she whispered, helping him sit up. "go grab a blood bag downstairs if you can. I'll be down with you in a second."
He gave her a grateful nod, though his eyes were still unfocused. Keiko turned her attention back to the phone, where Gerard's mocking laughter echoed in her ears.
"Now, sweetheart, don't be too rough on poor Pierre. He's just a casualty in our little game," Gerard taunted.
Keiko took a deep breath, steadying herself. "You better hope I don't see you any time soon, Gerard. Now, tell me more about this auction."
"Ah, right to business. That's what I like about you, Keiko. Efficient," Gerard purred. "I'm sure you're aware of the underground auction that is being hosted tonight at the Cemetery building. And unfortunately, one of my trusted colleagues who I hold very dear to my heart will be attacked by the two reigning Zoldyck's. I want you to protect him."
