"Welcome, everyone. Thank you all for joining us this evening," Gerard announced from the top of the grand staircase, Mei elegantly by his side, her smile radiant. "You see, whenever my daughter— though she's a bit shy and not quite ready to step into the limelight just yet— rejoins us, we celebrate with an event she cherishes above all: a grand ball." As he spoke, the elegantly dressed guests turned their heads with a mix of curiosity and excitement, their eyes scanning the crowd for a glimpse of their city's cherished 'princess.'

Those familiar with Keiko Rei offered only a discreet glance, understanding that Gerard had his own reasons for keeping her out of the spotlight for now.

He raised his glass, the guests following suit with eager anticipation. "Tonight, as we revel in the splendor of this ball, let us toast to the warmth and joy that bring us together. To my daughter, who reminds us of the beauty of humility and the strength in quiet grace. And to each one of you, whose presence here tonight makes this celebration truly special. Here's to cherished moments, enduring friendships, and the continued spirit of our community. May we always find joy in our gatherings and strength in our unity."

"Cheers!" All exclaimed as the sound of multiple glasses clinking against each other echoed throughout the ballroom.

"Strength in quiet grace?" Keiko scoffed, tilting her head back and drowning her fifth glass of champagne. The irony wasn't lost on her—what could Gerard possibly know about her? After a century of being confined and hidden away, and another spent apart, he understood nothing of the trials she had faced. But her time away from him had been necessary, a period she needed to endure on her own. Yet here he was, extolling virtues he scarcely understood.

"Easy there, love. We wouldn't want you getting intoxicated too early in the night," Chrollo teased as he chuckled, deftly lifting the glass from her hand and setting it on a passing waiter's tray. But Keiko was quick to grab another one.

"Vampires aren't exactly lightweight drinkers, Chrollo," she retorted with a tipsy slur, though her unsteady grin gave away her less-than-sober state. Despite her bravado, it was clear she was already feeling the effects after just one drink.

"He isn't entirely wrong, you know," Bianca remarked softly from beside them, her voice carrying a contemplative tone. Chrollo turned to face her, one eyebrow raised, while his arm remained comfortably around Keiko's waist as she mumbled to herself about how delightful a Nutella milkshake would be right now.

"I spent a decade with her not too long ago," Bianca continued, her gaze steady and thoughtful. "I witnessed firsthand the quiet strength and grace she possesses. Despite her vow never to return to Barcelona, I know she came back with a reason, and it's clear she's struggling with fear. But I know she'll get through it because she's one of the strongest women I know."

"Aw, Bi," Keiko cooed, reaching out to grab Bianca's cheeks. Bianca shot her an irritated look. "I forgot just how cute you are. I really missed you!"

"And I really didn't miss Drunken-Keiko," Bianca grumbled, pushing Keiko's hands away from her face with a touch of exasperation. "Your timing is impeccable, as always."

Chrollo watched the exchange with a growing sense of unease. Bianca's words had struck a chord, and he found himself reflecting on his actions. He shifted his gaze to Keiko, who was still trying to reach Bianca, her laughter mixing with a slurred apology. The light-hearted moment was a stark contrast to the turmoil Chrollo knew she was feeling inside.

As Bianca's words settled in, Chrollo's earlier amusement gradually dissolved into a uncomfortable sense of guilt. He had been so absorbed in his own ambitions and schemes that he hadn't fully considered the ramifications of his actions on Keiko. The realization that he had pressured her into confronting her fears, despite her clear reluctance, churned uncomfortably in his stomach.
