Sorry it took so long to upload this, things got super busy.

This is a short one

Everything was a whirl wind from the moment they got in the ambulance to the moment she got wheeled away to ER at the hospital. Tim was still reeling from the information Bailey so matter-of-factly dropped.

He couldn't believe she could keep something like that from him. He knew their relationship was strained but something like this... he felt a bit baffled and betrayed but at the same time he could rationalise her actions, she probably felt like she couldn't trust him anymore. Hell, she was probably conflicted and scared out of her mind. He could see every day how she was struggling, her messy hair, her less than perfect uniform, her silence – which was very uncharacteristic of Lucy, even despite their awkwardness.

Despite the sense of betrayal he felt, he couldn't bring himself to stay mad at her. He almost lost her... them, today and that was sobering enough to pull him out of the feelings he felt and soon his internal struggles were replaced with what he could only equate to as elation. He was going to be a father... He had always wanted to be one and the thought of a little baby girl or boy elated him. He had no doubt he was the father; Lucy wasn't promiscuous, and the timeline fit.

"Tim Bradford?" he heard someone calling, pulling him out from his stupor, as a doctor approached him where had anxiously sat waiting for news on Lucy. "You were her next of kin on the forms? We just wanted to let you know that Lucy and the baby will be fine. She's sustained some trauma abdominally but fortunately the stab wound wasn't deep enough to cause damage to any organs, and she required only some stitches. She has a concussion, and she was heavily drugged, but she should recover nicely with some rest. Her other wounds should also recover nicely. All in all, she's very lucky, a few more millimetres to the side and it would've nicked not only a major artery but also her uterus. She's in her hospital room now. We'll keep her overnight for observation. You're welcome to go through to see her now."

----

Lucy was sleeping in the hospital bed, her cuts and scrapes now cleaned, her locks untamedly framing her face, and a big bump where her stomach should be. He could now see properly she had a small pregnant belly, and he couldn't believe he hadn't noticed it before. She was beautiful... The mother of his child... and hopefully future children, he couldn't help but think hopefully.

He sat down next to her bed and took her hand in his, drawing it up to his face and placing a kiss to it. He could no longer contain his emotions and he cried silently. The thought of losing her was too much to bear, and now he learnt he almost lost two souls he loved. The intensity of everything that had just happened caught up to him.

Lucy opened her eyes to find Tim crying next to her. Tim Bradford crying. What an odd picture, she thought, for a man that had been schooled his whole life by his hardships to reign in his emotions and control his expressions, his hard childhood and war years that had taken their toll. For a moment she was confused.

"Tim," she said weakly, and she maneuvered to try and hold his face, wincing as a sharp pain shot down her side.
She was suddenly aware of where she was, and her hands shot down to her belly. A bewildered look of fear written in her eyes and on her face.
Tim looked up with red eyes, immediately reading her facial expression and grabbing her hands. "The baby's okay... They're okay, you're okay," he said as he tried to calm her.
Relief washed over her face but was soon replaced by another realization and her face turned sullen.
"T-Tim, I -" she was lost for words. He knew now...
"I know," he said, smiling at her softly but she could see there was some hurt in his eyes.
Lucy broke down; "I'm so sorry, Tim... I'm so sorry I should've told you earlier I was just so scared I'm so sorry, please forgive me," she choked out the words, sobbing.
He sat onto the bed next to her and pulled her to his chest, she shook as she cried. He cradled her head with his one hand and held her with his other, the way he used to hold her all the times she needed comforting. He rested his jaw on her head, and she curled her hand up to hold against his chest "I've got you," Tim said, and Lucy's walls came crashing down around her, "Shhh... it's okay Lucy".

"It's okay" he kept saying as he held her tightly. She softened in his embrace, the familiarity and the smell of him calming her. She had missed him so much.

After a while, she calmed down fully, his shirt was covered in snot and tears, but he didn't mind. He had missed holding her like this. It felt like coming home after a long war. She was his home, he realised, and he didn't know how he ever thought he could live without her in his life.

The bright eyed, tenacious rookie that challenged him at every turn. Now the mother of his child. His heart bloomed and his eyes watered. From the very first time he laid eyes on her that morning at roll call, he could tell she was special, but he had no idea she would come to be the love of his life. He didn't think it was possible to feel more deeply for someone than he did for Isabel, but this was in a whole different league.
"I wanted to be mad, I was, but I almost lost you... and then I realised I'm going to be a dad, and you're going to be a mom, and I- I just couldn't not be happy Luce... You know how much I've wanted to be a dad, and now I am..." he paused for a moment, realising he still had no clue how she really felt about having him back in her life, "if you'd allow me-"
"g* Tim yes," Lucy choked, "I want you to be part of our lives... I can't imagine you not being. I've missed you so much", she sobbed again.
"I've missed you too, g* Lucy, so much..." Tim said as he held her tighter.

After a while, he pulled away for a moment. "You know... We never had that conversation we were meant to have... I realise now you wanted to talk about... well this," he gestured towards her belly. "But I have a confession... I needed to tell you something too."

He paused as he drew in a breath, "Lucy, I am so sorry for walking away all those months ago, I thought I didn't deserve you, that I wasn't good enough, but I've worked through so much with my therapist. I've realised how flawed my perception was... I don't know if you could ever find it in your heart to forgive me, but I don't think I can live without you..." He paused, " Lucy will you please give me another chance?" He searched her eyes, her pretty brown eyes that were dancing with the light shining through the window. He could get lost in those eyes.
"That only took you forever," Lucy chuckled half bitterly, "to realize that you are all I've ever needed," she looked at him, earnest love softening her features, her eyes swollen red.
"I don't think I can live without you Tim... Please don't ever leave me... us, again. I love you...", Lucy was overwhelmed with emotion, she had to hold in the love she felt for him for so long since their breakup. Finally being able to admit it was like a dam wall breaking and letting the water free after years of being welled up and trapped.
Tim let go of a breath he didn't even know he was holding. He pulled her closer, he didn't think it would be possible, but he did, and she melted into him the way she always did so well, like they were sculpted for one another. "I love you Lucy, so much." He pressed a kiss to her forehead as he closed his eyes. Everything finally felt right again.

A/N: I'm sure if one of their colleagues had seen them on that hospital bed, they would've probably agreed that their sickeningly sweetness was long overdue XD
