A Shy Mermaid (Emunene)

Emu's POV:

One day during school, me and the other people in my class were taken to a beach. We had recently been learning a lot about littering and recycling so we were brought there to collect the litter on the beach!

I was having fun racing to pick up the most litter the quickest against the rest of my class but then I spotted something moving in the water out of the corner of my eye. I stared out to sea and saw a tail splishy splashing up and down!

I knew instantly it was a mermaid so I dropped everything I was doing and ran out into the sea. I could hear my classmates calling my name but I was so focused on meeting the mermaid that I dived in.

I swam around for a little while until I saw her! Looking straight at me was a mermaid with flowing, greyish-green hair and purple eyes! She then swam off but I really wanted to be her friend so I swam after her.

We swam around in circles until I was starting to feel dizzy so I waved goodbye with a smile and swam back up to the surface...

The next day, I woke up early and went straight back to the beach. I just knew I has to see her again, so I waited there.

I made sandcastles and found cool rocks while I was waiting, but I still couldn't see a mermaid tail flippy flapping along the water that went wishy washy. Why?!

As I was getting hungry, I decided to start eating from my bento box. As I was eating my taiyaki, then saw a tail spring up from the water and also the mermaid. I walked over to her and saw she was staring at my bento box.

"Do you want some sweets?" I asked.

She sniffed them but shook her head, she must not like the flavour of mint. I then saw her staring at my grapefruit.

I gestured her to have it so then went chompy-chomp on it until it was all gone!

"Thank you..." She mumbled, blushing a little.

"I'm Emu Otori, wonderhoy☆ What's your name?" I asked.

"I'm Nene... Nene Kusanagi..." The mermaid introduced herself.

"That's such a cool name, Nene-chan!" I exclaimed, "And you have cool hair too! I wish mine would grow out more..."

She giggled a little and so did I since I was happy she was now smiling.

"I think I have to go now," She said.

"WAH?!" I cried, "Could we hang out again soon?"

"Sure," She replied, blushing.

We both waved goodbye and then she dived back into the water. I can't wait to hang out with her again...
