"Follow us!" Rocket said, directing me toward their location. Looks like my decision has been made. We stumbled upon a bunch of pods that were the property of Knowhere. We seemingly all agreed that we had to get back to the Milano to get the Orb to safety. "I told you, you can't fit. Now wait here, I'll be back," Rocket said to Groot before getting in his pod. With Drax busy in his fight with Ronan, the rest of us took off towards the exit. Unfortunately, our adversaries caught up with us quickly. "Uh, guys, they're on our six," I alerted upon seeing the ships on my scopes. They started firing at us as we weaved through the tight gaps within the colony. I had to be hyper-focused or I could crash and be gone with the ensuing explosion. "Wait, why are there no weapons on here?" I wondered aloud with great concern. There's no way to stop them. We kept flying and dodging laser fire, trying to shake them, but nothing worked. "Keep them off Gamora until she gets to the Milano," Peter advised. "How? The kid said we've got no weaponry on these things," Rocket echoed my observation. "They're industrial-grade pods, they're practically indestructible," Peter pointed out. "Not against necroblasts, they're not," Rocket said. "That's not what I'm saying," Peter replied. "What do you expect us to do? Ram into these things?" I questioned sarcastically. "Bingo," Peter responded. "You're joking," Rocket stated. "Nope," Peter said seriously. I looked at the ships behind us and waited until I found an open space. I pulled my pod back then hit one of them, sending it crashing into another. I saw Rocket face a ship, expertly dodging its blasts before tearing it in half. "Gamora needs help, let's catch up to her," I advised Rocket. "Following you," he replied. We took off deeper into the mine and ran into some more enemy ships. I noticed in front of the cockpit there were two clampers attached to my pod. I ran straight towards an enemy ship and grabbed onto one of the wings. The ship shook free, but without its support, it spiraled out of control and crashed into a wall. I caught up with Peter, who somehow commandeered a ship and was picking off our enemies one by one. He thinned the herd surrounding Gamora, giving her a much clearer path to our ships.

However, this window closed quickly as three more ships forced Gamora to ride the wall. "Quill, I'm trapped. I can't make it to the Milano. I have to head out," Gamora said. She turned her ship and ascended upwards, out into space. "Wait, these things aren't meant to go out there," Peter warned. "Gamora, turn around! We're close by! Just shake them and you can make it," I suggested. But she didn't respond. Peter and I both went out to convince her. "Kid! What are you doing?" Rocket questioned. "She's gone silent, and we can't leave her behind. She has the Orb and if Ronan's goons get it we're all done for," I reasoned. Right after I said that I saw an explosion. Gamora's pod. Oh no. Upon a closer look, I saw her body and the Orb floating in empty space, with shattered glass and bits of metal surrounding them. A beam emerged from somewhere, abducting the Orb. I looked up and realized that it was Ronan's ship. "Shit," I mumbled. Peter, Rocket, and I all sat there in shock. We lost the most valuable and dangerous item in the galaxy and a fellow outlaw. "Guys, come on. Her body mods should keep her alive a couple more minutes, but there's nothing we can do for her. These pods aren't meant to be out here. In a second, we're gonna be in the same boat," Rocket said, breaking the silence and giving us the cold truth. Rocket turned his pod around, slowly steering himself back towards Knowhere. "There has to be some way we can save her, Rocket. We might not know or like each other at all, but we can't let her die," I protested. "Kid, I admire your boldness. But we can't get that Orb and stop Ronan if we're dead too. Come on," he responded. Peter, however, didn't take his advice and went straight for Gamora's almost lifeless body. He exited the pod and flew towards her. "Quill, don't be ridiculous. Get back into your pod!" Rocket shouted. "You can't fit two people in there, you're gonna die!" "We have to try," I said, floating my pod gingerly towards them.

Peter took off his mask and comm and placed it on Gamora's head, giving her a chance at survival. I opened my pod, feeling that I was close enough to grab onto them and squeeze them in. "You'll die in seconds!" I shouted at the couple. I started to feel the lack of oxygen in my pod and my breathing became a bit too uncontrollable. But I had taken risks like this before. I wasn't going to let two of the only people I knew and trusted in this galaxy die like this. I angled my pod with all my might to where the door faced upwards, hoping gravity would pull them into a place with more oxygen. I saw a bunch of ships approach us, but it wasn't our crew. A beam was emitted from the one directly above us, pulling Gamora and Peter to a place where they would survive. But I felt its force pull me from my pod. I tried to grab the flight sticks and fly away, but I couldn't reach them. I floated into space, my lungs almost giving out, getting abducted by this mysterious person. I couldn't contact Rocket, so I pointed slowly for him to go back. I saw his pod leave as I was sucked into the ship. Peter and Gamora fell on top of each other as I rolled right next to them. I breathed heavily, trying to get my rhythm back. They were whispering to each other, so I let them have their company. "Where's the Orb?" I heard Gamora question, her vocal cords returning to full strength. "It's... well, they got the Orb," Peter said. "What?" Gamora asked. A nearby door opened. We looked and saw several of the most hideous-looking men I'd ever seen all holding guns at us. "Welcome home, Peter," one of them said. I put my hands up in surrender as I had no weapons on me. I looked towards Peter, wondering what our captors meant by that as we were dragged away to somewhere.
