Back in Egypt a few years before Atem released his darkness and shadows onto the kingdom…

Atem and Heba were fast asleep, the shorter snuggled into the others chest, both resting peacefully. It had been a rough night for the both of them what with Heba being kidnapped after his mother died and Atem’s display of dark power. Unbeknownst to them the shadow that normally followed Atem around slowly slipped away from the boy, becoming semi-physical as it snuck out of the room. It headed down the halls, hiding away from any own who passed by. It was looking for something to eat, a nice wicked soul to feast on. And why would a shadow need to devour souls? Well because this dark apparition wasn’t a shadow but rather a spirit…Rozu to be more specific.

She had grown fond of the boy she used as her host. He reminded her of the son’s she lost many years ago. She had been his companion, his friend for many years. She understood his pain and the loneliness he felt for she had gone through the same thing, on difference was that her father had been cruel.

But now he at least had a friend. She would’ve been jealous and disgusted by the influence the child had on her host had she not know that this was her sister’s vessel. Ironic that they both chose hosts that shared an appearance but she supposed it was it made sense in a way. The boys were complete opposites of each other, one with a pure soul and the other a dark.

Strangely enough Clarity hadn’t made herself known to the boy as Rozu did with her host. She could barely make out her sisters presence and she wondered why. It was clear the child possessed some of her abilities as he was able to sooth Atem when he tried to kill his father…honestly she wished the boy did. Nobody should shout or put their hands on a child. They were precious gifts that should be cherished and loved, they should have a life of happiness and not suffering…like her own life. She shook her heads, sending those memories back into the recesses of her mind.

She would need to keep an eye on little Heba, she would hate for him to destroy what she had been teaching Atem for years. Her host had a gift for dark magic, it came to him naturally and he could command the shadows with such ease. He would be a perfect heir someday if she could bring him back to her kingdom…

She heard voices coming from the king’s throne room. Curiously she entered the room, fading into the shadows on the wall…she listened as the king express his concerns about his son to his advisor…stating that a demon had possessed his boy. Rozu couldn’t stop the smirk forming on her face; if only it was as weak as demon…the pharaoh stated that they needed to find a way to purge the boy’s soul of this evil. Jokes on them the spell she used to bind herself to Atem’s soul was unbreakable until she permitted it. Trying to get rid of her would only hurt the child which she would not allow…
