a few months passed, and Atsumu was finally ready for training camp.  all his bags were packed, his train ticket was purchased, and all he needed to do now was to get up, shower, and leave. and that's exactly what he did. he hugged his mother goodbye and left his sleeping brother a note saying:

"hey Samu, I noticed you were asleep when I was about to leave and decided not to wake you. see you in a week and don't forget to call me if you need anything. text me when you wake up.

_Tsumu"

the train to Tokyo arrived, and Atsumu noticed he was the only one from his school who was going to be attending. "great..." he thought to himself. he was going to be surrounded by strangers, unless..

Atsumu finally reached Tokyo, where he made his way to the hotel they were staying at. he looked around and saw a huge crowd of boys, all seemingly around his age, and decided to wait around for a couple of minutes so most of them would be arranged their rooms so he wouldn't have to stand awkwardly amongst them.

that was when he noticed two other boys who appeared to be doing the exact thing he was: waiting around for the number of people to lessen so they could finally get into their rooms. the shorter of the two noticed the blonde boy and walked up to him.

"hey come hang out with us, are you waiting for anybody?" the shorter boy asked Atsumu, a wide smile plastered on his face.

"no, I'm alone here. what's your name? I feel like I know you from somewhere" Atsumu then replied.

"Motoya Komori! you're one of the Miya twins, right?

"how'd you know?" Atsumu questioned, followed by a slight chuckle. "I'm Atsumu, you can just call me that since Miya can get a little confusing when you have a twin. you play for Itachiyama, right?"

"yeah! we had that practice game a couple of months back, remember? that right there is our mighty ace, Sakusa Kiyoomi. let's go say hi" Komori proposed, grabbing Atsumu's hand with excitement and bringing him over to Sakusa.

the second Sakusa and Atsumu's eyes met, they both fell into silence. neither of them was saying anything, and neither of them was moving, they were just maintaining eye contact. Their "trance" was broken by Komori, who introduced the two. they made a little small talk, Atsumu made a little fun of Komori, and Sakusa allowed himself to giggle from time to time. despite everything he heard about the "cocky and overly confident" Miya Atsumu, he turned out to be not that bad...not bad at all...

a couple of hours flew by and Atsumu went to his assigned room, alone. their first day there was just for getting to know people, walking around the hotel grounds, or just napping away. some even practiced, although it was completely optional. Atsumu took his phone out and called Osamu, he should've been already finished with school, on his way to practice. it took a few rings, but his twin finally picked up the phone.

"Tsumu! everything okay?" Osamu picked up, worried.

"yeah, why wouldn't it be? am I not allowed to call my beloved brother?" Atsumu replied mockingly, his tone slightly hinting that there he'd had something go down that he wanted to tell his twin.

"you never do, Tsumu. what happened?" the grey-haired twin then said, fully knowing the other had something important to say.

"I just had the weirdest interaction ever with Itachiyama's ace." he then said bluntly, waiting for a response on the other end.

"what do you mean, did you two get into an argument? I've heard he's got quite the temper. he's that weird guy with the mask, right?"

"yeah, that's him. he's not weird at all actually, he's just... an interesting character. the thing is, we didn't get into a fight. I was outside waiting for more people to get the keys to their assigned rooms and I decided to hang out a little further so I wouldn't be awkward, you know? then Komori walked up to me and basically dragged me to Sakusa, their ace as I've come to learn. however, before we even got to say anything we had this moment." Atsumu started ranting about his weird interaction with Sakusa, still lost in thought over what had happened.

"what moment? Tsumu don't tell me.."

"I don't know, Samu. I looked at him and his eyes were just so...piercing. i couldn't stop looking into them, and it seemed as if he couldn't stop looking into mine either! we just stood there making eye contact for a while. and, to be fair, it wasn't awkward, it was oddly...peaceful almost. i don't know Samu it was unlike anything I've ever felt and I'm confused. HELP"

"stop yelling idiot. if I were you, I wouldn't give it much thought. maybe he just was surprised to see you there and zoned out when you walked up to him. or maybe he's in love with you, I guess we'll never know." Osamu said that last part in an attempt to shed a little light on the situation his brother found himself in.

"Thanks, Samu, I'll talk to u later, I think I'm gonna go out for a walk."

"Okay, be safe out there. happy to see this next chapter of your life unfold"

the twin's call ended and Atsumu began getting ready to go out for a little walk. a few minutes later, he put in his headphones, slipped his phone into his pocket, and walked out of the room.
