Adonis' dark words and happy tone gave the Draconian an odd aura, acting as innocent while also showing just the slightest shred of his power...it would startle any normal person. Lucas and his father, however, were no ordinary people. The father and son straightened their posture and kept their confident yet wise aura. "Yes, that would be in Asteria's best interest." King Adrian nodded, his voice steady. Adonis chuckled "Hah, that's not what you humans said hundreds of thousands of years ago, when you slaughtered us like a fox in a chicken coop."
Emperor Caius and Princess Valeria sat quietly and observed the unfolding transaction, it appeared that Emperor Caius trusted Adonis enough to let him speak for their hidden empire. "That may be true...but Asteria has changed under my rule. And with this treaty, I promise that there will be no violence under my rule, violence created by us that is." King Adrian placed his hand over his heart, his expression was blank but his eyes shone with determination, Lucas always admired his father's way with words...it was as if every word King Adrian said was a decree from the gods themselves. However, Adonis persisted. "Is that so? But I have never met you or anyone from your kingdom in my entire life, and even in my grandparents' lives. How can Draconia trust this 'New Asteria'?" Adonis leaned forward with a smirk, Adonis had an excellent point, but King Adrian had much more experience than him.
"You have a point, Advisor Adonis. But I have a goal- Asteria and Draconia have long since grown apart like a boat to a dock. Eventually, that boat will need supplies and return to the dock, and the dock sells the ship's materials. Together, both my kingdom and your empire will prosper." King Adrian stood from a chair, his entire stature radiated experience and authority, like a lion. Lucas watched his father in child-like awe, while Adonis frowned. "You dare call our empire weak? Is that what you're trying to say? I'll beat the hell out of you if you so much as think such treason in his highness' presence!" Adonis hissed, an enraged frown etched across his handsome face. But before King Adrian could respond Emperor Caius raised his hand slowly, and the entire room fell silent. "Adonis, that's enough." Emperor Caius said in a calm tone that brought chills to Lucas' spine.
"I apologize for my advisor's accusations. Draconia will sign the treaty." Emperor Caius nodded at King Adrian before reaching forward, grabbing ink and a quill, and signing the large paper in between him and King Adrian. King Adrian relaxed ever so slightly and signed the treaty as well. The entire room breathed a sigh of relief. Emperor Caius even gave a small smile "With this treaty. The kingdoms of Draconia and Asteria's fates are intertwined..."
"Together we shall prosper till the gods envy us."
