I ended up having Jamie drop me back at Finnegans, figuring that he could take a look at my ear and redress it properly. I didn't want anyone
I stood at the door, holding the handle with an iron grip. I needed to fill him on a few events, and verbally process all I was holding in. Finn and I have a sworn oath to keep all information shared, confidential. I don't rat on him and he doesn't rat on me.
I started to push the door and before I could open it, Finn pulled it open with a smirk. "Let's talk while I take care of that." He pointed towards my head. "Don't think I didn't notice that when you came by earlier. Zuri called and asked if you came in."
"And of course, I didn't. Had other priorities." I huffed and waltzed past him through the door. I went straight back to the medical room while he flicked off the open sign and shut down the front of the shop.
"You don't really get to be the best agent if you're dead." He remarked pulling out his medical bag from beneath the table.
"Fair, But I'm about 1,000 percent sure that it was David." I peeled away the bandages from my ear, dropping them on the examination table beside me. "Parker and Jamie were told by David that I was taken out."
"And the guy you brought in earlier? He didn't talk much. What's his role in all this?" Finn started to clean up the skin, checking for any irritation or infection.
"The Artemis Elias. He was a client. Now he's kind of a target. And maybe a little more than that."
"A little more than that? Eve, you are playing a very dangerous game." He scolded and stepped back away from me. "You can't get too attached. Carlos would go psychotic just knowing you're involved with anyone except for the man you're practically betrothed to."
"Man?" I grumbled, feeling my blood boil at the implication.
Finn laughed, tossing away bloodied cloth. "Boy."
"Harrison is not even on my radar. I haven't seen or spoken to him since he was sent to deal with international affairs. He would drive me into the ground if I was forced to be with him. I'm trying to get out anyway." I could trust that he would keep everything I said locked in this room. Even if it meant I was helping myself understand.
"Good luck with that."
Thankful that he didn't share his opinion with me, I was able to relax. I could rest in this moment as a calm before the storm. I said that last time, and I ate my words.
"Anyways. Back to Boy toy."
I gawked at him, holding back my reaction to the comment. "Quit it. Parker shot him thinking that Artemis took me out after I took care of his request. Artemis put me up in a hotel and he refused to tell them where I was. Naturally, Parker shot him."
I shrugged, still irritated with my brother. Blood means nothing in our business world and I have felt that now more than ever. It still fucking hurts.
"Lay down on your side." I flinched at his touch, he started to prep to dress it."No infection, just irritated. You didn't do a great job covering this. Sloppy work agent." He poked fun at me and was trying to make sense of the whole scenario.
"He's sounds like trouble. Client first and then target? Explain."
Laying on my side, I pulled my hair back away from my ear. Finnegan moved to a rolling stool, settling next to the table.
"He requested me for a mission. Just me. Sketched everyone out. But Parker found me and convinced me to help him." He started to wrap the side of my head, paying close attention to how the bandage lay against my skin.
