– Hey. Wake up.

She was in her bunk. She blinked several times in a daze, then noticed someone sitting in a chair beside the bed. She was surprised when she recognised the maid who had escorted her to Duke Arthur.

"She told me her name," she thought, "but I can't remember... And this time, she was on a first-name basis."

– Are you feeling better? asked the ginger.

– What happened?

– I'll explain later. Can you stand up?

– You are...

– Catherine, but call me Cath, she said. It's shorter.

She began her explanation.

– When you put on that pendant, Duke Arthur made you his servant. Now you're his servant, just like me and everyone else here. Thanks to the pendant we all wear, Duke Arthur can make us do anything.

She was silent for a moment, letting the blonde digest this information.

– And what's going to happen to me?

– For the moment, nothing. Duke Arthur has ordered me to explain to you how things work before you start work, explained the young maid.

– Work?

Catherine nodded and held out her hand for her to sit on her bed. Once she had done so, the maid asked her to show him her shoulder.

- Why? asked the blonde.

– Take a look.

A strange tattoo had appeared on the young girl's shoulder. A tattoo that was in fact a series of numbers and letters that formed the code: "C6L32A6V1E2".

– That's your servant code, Clave.

– Clave. What? Wait... What did you call me?

– Clave, why? Because you don't have a name, so I chose one for you. I just put the letters of your code together... There you go. Did you think that was your real name? I'm sorry if it was, said Catherine, but her face remained unmoved. Well, get some more rest and I'll come back and show you around the manor.

– All right..., murmured the young girl, a little taken aback by what Catherine had just explained to her.

Then the maid left the room, leaving the blonde to rest.

Duke Arthur had given Clave a day's rest before starting work. The young girl decided to wander through the corridors, not knowing where to go. She hoped to find something that would help her with her amnesia.

The young girl sometimes came across noblemen, guests of Duke Arthur, and she always lowered her eyes, but it was no use; they didn't even look at her. Eventually, she came to an immense library with high shelves. Soft light filtered through the thin curtains. Only one person was in the room: a raven-haired young man, seated in a corner at a table. The blonde decided not to disturb him, and took a look at the bookshelves opposite.

She ran her eyes along the edges of the books, hoping to find a clue in one of them, something that would bring a memory to the surface. Eventually she came across a book called Sirine's War Explained to Children. Clave realised that there probably wasn't a lot of detailed information if it was a children's book, but it was a good start. What's more, the name Sirine was familiar to her.

She flipped through the book, and found a fairly simplified map, but with a lot of information on it. The legend read "Land of Sirine", and as she scanned the map, she noticed a place called "Silverwood Domain'. This was the name of Duke Arthur. Clave was surely here in the country, as she was in the Duke's manor house.

The young girl felt a little hope come over her. Perhaps this book could teach her even more. She began to read it, paying attention to every paragraph. As she suspected, it gave very little information, but she learned that the country had been at war only a few decades before, and that this had led to the end of the monarchy and the royal family. Sirine was now ruled by the heads of the country's most influential noble families. And Duke Arthur's family was the most powerful of them all.

"I suppose you could say he's the head of the country," thought Clave.

The young girl then put the book back on the shelf and looked for more, but soon got bored and gave up.

She wandered the corridors again, reflecting on what she had learned about the country of Sirine, only hoping not to bump into Duke Arthur today.
