– Well, what a surprise! I didn't think you knew each other! exclaimed one of the two people, a young woman with her hair tied back in two ponytails and dark skin.

– Neither did I, replied Corentin. Fate has a way of doing things.

He smiled at the second person, a young man with square glasses and side fringes.

– Bea, do you know him? surprised Noah.

– Yes. Corentin's family has been friends with ours for a long time.

Clave remained silent, waiting for the next step.

– But what's he doing with you? continued Beatrice. I mean, with you two. Hello! You must be Clave.

She gently squeezed the young girl's hands between hers.

– Noah and Griselda often talk about you. I've been looking forward to meeting you!

Clave exchanged a glance with her golden-eyed friend, who smiled at her in amusement. The young girl didn't know how to react to so much energy. She had been used to calmer people since she woke up in Arthur's mansion.

– Bea, you didn't even let me answer your question..., sighed Noah, his arms crossed, leaning on one leg.

– Yes, I'm listening! said the young woman, letting go of the blonde's hands.

– He's with us because he wants to help Clave find the Crown, like you and Naos.

– It's not that I want to, it's that I have to, says Corentin. It's my family's mission.

– You never told us! Beatrice said indignantly.

– I told Naos.

The young man in glasses nodded in agreement. It was then that Clave noticed that he and Beatrice looked exactly alike. They were probably twins, or at least brother and sister.

Naos's sister pouted.

– You two are so close..., she complained.

Clave glanced at Corentin and Naos. They were discreetly holding hands. The young girl thought they were cute. She was surprised that the serious Corentin was in a relationship, even though at first sight he didn't seem very sentimental.

– Okay, continued Noah. Now that the introductions are more or less over, we can get back on the road. Bea, Naos, have you got everything you need?

The twins nodded, once again in perfect synchronisation.

The group of five now began to head south, towards the capital, their final destination.

– Take this necklace, Mystic.

The young girl moved her hand towards the jewel held out to her by the woman in front of her.

– What's it for? It looks like a maid's necklace...

– The magical engineers used it as inspiration to create it, actually.

– What's it for? asked Mystic, now curious.

– It contains the secret of the Crown. You'll need it when you inherit it.

– But... Ruby... You're the Queen. I don't want the throne.

Ruby huffed. The blonde still hadn't lost the habit of saying 'I do, I do', and that exasperated the young woman.

– I know, Mystic. But I'm leaving to defend the kingdom, and our people will need someone to guide them here. I know I can count on you to deal with the various problems in the capital, despite your age. Do you understand?

Yes, Mystic understood. Fortunately, she wouldn't be alone. The castle councillors were there to help her.

The young girl gently took the necklace from Ruby's hands. It shone like a cut sapphire in the light coming through the window in the room.

– I'll do my best... But please be careful near the border.

Clave slowly opened her eyes, coming back to reality and the present. She lay on her bunk for a few minutes, staring up at the rosy morning sky, not wanting to get up just yet.

"What was that dream? It was like the past... I saw my necklace, which that woman gave me. It's always the same person. But this time it was different..."

The young girl turned her face towards her necklace, lying wisely on the grass beside her.

"What was its name again...?" she asked herself, unable to remember.

Suddenly, a shadow leaned over her. A shadow with two ponytails and blue eyes.

"Ocean-coloured eyes", Clave thought, even though she couldn't remember ever having seen the sea.

– Beatrice? she murmured.

– Yes, that's me!

The brunette crouched down beside the blonde.

– The sky is magnificent, isn't it? I stand in awe of it every time I open my eyes.

Clave nodded, straightening up and sitting down on her bunk.

– You know, Noah likes you very much, Beatrice began.

The young girl tilted her head to one side, wondering why Naos' sister was telling her this.

– He doesn't have many friends or people to talk to because of his father. He's very fond of you.

– I care about him too.

– I just wanted to tell you that, because if you ever leave him alone...

Beatrice didn't finish her sentence. Clave cut her off first.

– I won't. He's one of my only friends.

The brunette smiled.

– I'm reassured.

Then she stood up and left the young girl in peace.

Her only thought was that she had said the word friend, but that sometimes she wished he were more than that.
