Waking up was the last thing I wanted.
I tried to avoid the continuous whispers I believed were spoken over the phone, but when I heard the sound of a blocky, utterly annoying keyboard, I genuinely lost it.
"That's a way to wake me up. What the hell are you doing?"
I said, slightly raising my head from the pillow which I didn't want to let go just yet.
"Good morning, beautiful. How did you sleep?" He completely disregarded my question, standing at the desk nearby as he checking his laptop in the meanwhile.
I slowly got up, making my way to the chair he was sitting in, hugging his upper body from behind.
"I did, but I'm still pretty tired from last night, so I wasn't feeling like waking up just yet." I said, placing my head on his shoulder.
There was a sly glance directing my way, then he slightly turned his head to face his laptop again.
"Don't say that like you weren't begging me to go hard—"I covered his mouth as soon as I realized.
"I hate you so much, oh my God."
I almost shouted at him, but unbothered he slowly put away my hands and continued.
"Why so aggressive, babe? I was just waiting for you to wake up and show me some love. I deserve at least that, don't I?"
He looked over his shoulder, resting his forehead on mine.
Love... It got me thinking about his sleep confession. But he doesn't seem to be aware of it, so I'll just pretend to be clueless for now.
His hands were now guiding mine along with my body, finding my way into his lap.
I let my body rest in his chest, listening to his uncontrolled heartbeats as he was still working on his unnamed business.
I had no intention to ask what he was doing, so I just melted in his arms in the meantime.
"I want the whole day to be like this. I don't want to work anymore." I complained, meaning every word.
But he proceeded to close his laptop to suddenly say."Oh, you don't have to. We have a day off. I mean, you have a day off. I will just skip work and hope nobody notices."
Does this man have brain damage?
"Huh? I'm pretty sure it's Friday. Or did my brain forget to function?"
Confused about what he was implying, I furrowed my eyebrows, waiting for a response.
"Was I really that good? I'm flattered."
Was his only answer.
He was surely not actively listening, and his oblivious responses made me let out an exasperated sigh, which he noticed.
"Yes, it's Friday. It's also your birthday, dummy." He followed with a laugh and my eyes widened at his statement.
I think I might have brain damage at this point.
Seeing my confused reaction, he reached for the desk drawer, yanking out a calendar.
Today's date blazed red, circled countless times. My name, written with hearts all over was the most noticeable thing on the page.
His focus soon dropped from the calendar and moved to me, plastering thousands of frivolous kisses all over my face. "Happy birthday, love."
"At least one of us didn't forget." I muttered, loud enough for him to hear me.
