Chidi and Adaora arrived in Singapore late in the evening, the city’s skyline twinkling like a thousand diamonds as their car weaved through the busy streets. The exhaustion of the long flight hung over them, but the thrill of being in one of Asia’s most vibrant cities kept them alert. Chidi, ever the gentleman, ensured Adaora was comfortable as they made their way to the luxurious hotel where he had booked rooms.
The hotel lobby was a vision of modern elegance, with sleek marble floors and towering glass windows that offered a breathtaking view of the Marina Bay Sands in the distance. Adaora looked around, taking in the grandeur, while Chidi handled the check-in.
But when they approached the desk, they were met with an unexpected situation. “I’m sorry, Mr. Okoye,” the receptionist began with a polite yet regretful tone, “but it appears there’s only one room available due to a last-minute booking error.”
Chidi’s eyes narrowed slightly, a mix of frustration and suspicion crossing his features. “Only one room?” he echoed, his voice calm but with a hint of irritation. Adaora, standing beside him, glanced up at him, concern flashing in her eyes.
“Yes, sir,” the receptionist confirmed. “Unfortunately, we don’t have any other rooms available at this time.”
Chidi let out a small sigh, knowing that business had to come first. “Fine,” he said after a moment, turning to Adaora. “You take the room. I’ll find another place to stay for the night.”
Adaora hesitated, feeling uneasy. “Are you sure? I don’t want to—”
“It’s fine, Adaora,” Chidi interrupted, offering her a reassuring smile. “I’ll be back tomorrow. We have a busy day ahead, so get some rest.”
With that, Adaora reluctantly accepted the key and made her way to the room, while Chidi set out to find another hotel nearby. He didn’t like how things had unfolded, but there was no other choice. However, in the back of his mind, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t quite right.

Tunde Adeyemi was having a difficult time. His company’s new payment system, SMOKE, had just launched, but it was already facing severe technical issues. Customers were losing money, transactions were failing, and the company’s reputation was plummeting fast. To make matters worse, Tunde Adewale, the influential founder of Alt School Africa and one of the key investors in SMOKE, had just sold off his shares. This move sent shockwaves through the market, causing the company’s value to drop even further.
Tunde felt like everything was falling apart around him. He was losing control, and the pressure was mounting. But amidst all the chaos, one thought kept nagging at him: Adaora. He knew she was in Singapore with Chidi, and the idea of them being together so far away, especially after everything that had happened between them, was driving him mad.
Unable to stand it any longer, Tunde picked up his phone and called Mide. “Mide, I need a favor,” he said as soon as his friend answered. “Adaora and Chidi are in Singapore, and I need to know where they’re staying.”
Mide, always resourceful, quickly agreed to help. He used his connections and managed to get in touch with the manager of the hotel where Chidi and Adaora were lodging. With a bit of persuasion, Mide convinced the manager to tell them that only one room was available, even though two rooms were actually vacant.
When Tunde heard the news, a small, satisfied smile appeared on his face. He didn’t like playing these kinds of games, but this was different. This was about Adaora, and he wasn’t going to lose her without a fight.

Back in Singapore, Adaora sat on the edge of the hotel bed, her mind racing. She couldn’t shake the feeling that she was at a crossroads. On one hand, there was Tunde—the man who had been there for her through thick and thin, who had supported her when she needed it the most. But on the other hand, there was Chidi—a man with immense power and influence, who could offer her a future she had never dared to dream of.
The decision weighed heavily on her heart. She knew she had to make a choice, but it wasn’t as simple as picking one man over the other. It was about her future, her career, and her happiness. But no matter how hard she tried to think it through, she couldn’t ignore the guilt that gnawed at her. Was she really ready to betray Tunde after everything he had done for her? Or was she willing to risk it all for the opportunities that Chidi could provide?
As she wrestled with her thoughts, a knock on the door pulled her from her reverie. It was Chidi, who had returned after finding another hotel. “I just wanted to check in on you,” he said as she opened the door. “Make sure you’re settling in okay.”
“I’m fine,” Adaora replied, forcing a smile. “Just trying to get some rest before tomorrow.”
Chidi nodded, his gaze softening as he looked at her. “Adaora, I know this is a lot to take in,” he began, his voice gentle. “But I want you to know that I’m here for you. Whatever you decide, I’ll support you.”
Adaora felt a lump form in her throat. She appreciated Chidi’s words, but they didn’t make her decision any easier. “Thank you, Chidi,” she said quietly. “I appreciate that.”
After Chidi left, Adaora closed the door and leaned against it, her mind once again swirling with conflicting emotions. She had never felt so torn in her life.
Tunde was facing his own set of challenges. The SMOKE system’s crash was causing chaos, and his company was losing money by the minute. Investors were pulling out, customers were furious, and the media was having a field day with the story. Tunde knew he had to do something, but his mind kept drifting back to Adaora.
He couldn’t just sit back and watch as she slipped away from him. He had to go to Singapore and fix things—both with her and with his business. It was a risky move, but he was willing to take that risk if it meant saving what mattered most to him.
Tunde made up his mind. He was going to Singapore.
As the night wore on, Adaora continued to struggle with her decision. She knew she couldn’t keep stringing both men along, but the thought of losing either one of them was unbearable. She needed time to think, to figure out where her heart truly lay.
Meanwhile, Chidi was lying awake in his hotel room, his mind also racing. He couldn’t help but wonder what Tunde was up to. The man was unpredictable, and Chidi knew better than to underestimate him. But for now, he needed to focus on the business trip ahead. There was a lot at stake, and he couldn’t afford to be distracted.
Little did they both know that Tunde was already on his way to Singapore, determined to fight for what he believed was his.
