Flashback ~~~
Lavanya held the phone to her ear, her voice barely a whisper as she stood by the window, watching Raj cook in the kitchen. "Aaria... I don't know if I can do this anymore," she confessed, her voice trembling.
"Take your time, okay?" Aaria's voice was gentle, yet firm. "Don’t freak out. Just breathe. If you really think it's too much for you, then maybe you should take a vacation. Get some space."
Lavanya bit her lip, glancing over at Raj. The thought of leaving him, even for a short while, filled her with a strange mix of fear and relief. "But Raj never lets me go anywhere alone," she murmured. "I just... I need time for myself."
"Then you need to talk to him, Lavanya. Explain how you feel. And once you’ve spoken to him, let me know how it goes, okay?"
"Okay..." Lavanya agreed, though her voice was shaky. She knew Raj well enough to anticipate his response. When she had tried to bring up the idea of taking some time away, he had been adamant. He was not going to let her go, not even for a few days. The idea of her being out of his sight was simply unacceptable to him.
Later that night, after Raj had fallen asleep, Lavanya locked herself in the bathroom. Her hands trembled as she typed a message to Aaria. *I want to escape tonight. I know this is reckless, but I need to do this.*
Aaria responded almost immediately, her concern palpable through the screen. She quickly contacted Yuvraj for help, but he was hesitant at first. It took Aaria considerable effort to convince him, but eventually, he agreed to assist.
Lavanya was grateful beyond words. She knew she was doing something that might be considered foolish, but she couldn’t stay. She needed to breathe. Before leaving, she handed a letter to Aaria, asking her to give it to Raj once she was gone.
Flashback ends ~~~
Raj tore open the letter the moment Aaria handed it to him. His hands shook slightly as he unfolded the paper, his eyes scanning the words written in Lavanya’s delicate handwriting.
Hey love,
I know what I’m about to do might seem reckless, but Raj, I need time. I promise I will come back to you. I love you more than you could ever imagine.
Please, until I return, take care of yourself. When I come back, I want to see my fit and fine Raj. Please don’t try to find me. If you love me, please do this one thing for me. You’ve always said you would do anything for me—this is what I need right now. Just give me some time for myself.
I love you, Raj.
Yours always,
Lavanya.Raj read the letter again, and again, as if hoping that somehow the words would change. He breathed heavily, feeling the weight of the paper in his hands, yet it felt like a thousand tons on his heart. He looked up at Aaria, his eyes filled with a mix of pain and resignation.
"Don’t worry about her," Aaria said softly, trying to offer some comfort. "I gave her a magical spray—no one can smell your scent on her. And she’s wearing a highly protected silver amulet too. She’ll be safe."
Raj nodded, but his mind was elsewhere. Everyone around him showed him sympathy, their eyes filled with concern, but he waved them off. "I’m fine," he said, though the words felt hollow in his mouth.
As he returned to his room, he clutched the letter tightly, reading it one more time. Tears fell freely, his heart aching with each word. The man who was known as the dominant and powerful king, who had always been in control, now wept for the one person who held his heart in her hands.
He made a decision in that moment. He would give her the time she needed. His love for her was too great to do otherwise. He wouldn't let her go completely, but he would wait. He knew she loved him; her words made that clear. But he also knew that he had no choice in his life. The Moon Goddess had chosen him for a reason, and he was bound by that destiny.
Raj stood by the window, staring out into the darkness as the weight of Lavanya’s departure settled heavily on his heart. The room was eerily silent, save for the soft rustle of the curtains as the night breeze drifted in. His mind replayed her words over and over again, each one cutting deeper into his soul.
As the pain gnawed at him, Raj made a solemn vow. He clenched the letter tightly in his hand, his eyes hardening with resolve. “I will wait for you, Lavanya,” he whispered into the night. “Even if it takes a lifetime, I’ll wait.”
The thought of a future without her was unbearable, but he knew he had to respect her wishes. She needed time, and though it pained him to let her go, he loved her enough to give her what she asked for.
Raj’s heart ached with every beat, but he refused to let despair consume him. Instead, he held onto the promise of her return, believing that one day, she would come back to him. No matter how long it took, he would be there, waiting with open arms.
"I love you, Lavanya," he whispered to the empty room, his voice cracking with emotion. "If I had the power to become the man you want, I would change myself in a heartbeat. But I can’t. The Moon Goddess chose me, and for that, I’m sorry, my love."
Later that night, Raj shifted into his wolf, Rudra, letting out a painful howl that echoed through the city. The sound was so filled with sorrow that everyone who heard it felt a shiver run down their spine. The entire city felt his pain, the heartbreak of a king who had lost the woman he loved.
As Rudra prowled the city, his thoughts were consumed by Lavanya. He would wait for her, give her the space she needed, but his heart would never stop aching until she returned to him.
