"hey! what would you like to have today?" i smiled with my eyes closed. i didn't know who stood infront of me and i didn't think it was necessary. i had to smile anyway, even when i was being kicked out last night and was homeless now.

when i didn't get any reply - even after id have given them my best mastered-up-fake smile - i opened my eyes.

my smile faded almost instantly.

"what do you need?"

"Sia."

"look, im working now. do not disturb." i deadpanned, narrowing my eyes at him. Ayden stood there, motionless, just staring at me with, well, hopelessness and amusement.

"Sia-"

"i said no."

he just ignored me. "have you slept last night?" he put his hands inside the pockets of his black cargo pants, "Do you know what time is it?"

"hah. you've come here to ask me that?" i snorted, "ayden can't read the time, i guess?" as I leaned towards him, he locked his ocean blues' with my honey-brown earth as i saw him stepping closer.

okay. his eyes were pretty.

"maybe i can't." he quirked an eyebrow, "how about you look at the clock and tell me?"

"it will be my pleasure to help you." i smiled, "you know, it's completely alright to not be able to read the time." i turned to look at the clock, "i'll happily teach... you..." my voice trailed as i gulped down the lump that had formed in my throat, "...i guess..."

10:05. oh shit.

i slowly turned back to see Maria, standing with an expression i couldn't quite read. Maria was the girl who worked in the morning shift till 1230. she always wore big nerdy glasses and always looked terrified about everything. the only reason she could do the morning shift was because, in the mornings, people preferred to talk less and she was an expert on it.

"well..." where was he?

"So, you were saying something about teaching me how to read the time?" Ayden's voice came from behind me, and I instantly turned around again to find him standing right in front of me, almost towering over my five-foot-five frame with his six-foot-two height. "Mhm. I’m waiting."

I blinked, smiling nervously, trying to think of an answer. My brain couldn’t come up with anything. Not that I had any excuses for my stupidity, but his face was closer to mine and his body was nearer than ever before. I felt my heart miss a beat as I looked at his face perfectly, just 30 centimeters away from mine.

or i could say, i was able to see the perfection in his face.

His eyes were the darkest blue, like the ocean that threatened to drown me if I dared to stare at them any longer. I breathed in his cologne, which was slightly sweet, warm, with hints of sandalwood and amber.

Oh god, who knew he’d smell so good? So good.

I shook my head rapidly as I felt my whole body heat up by a hundred degrees. "I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry." I raised my hands slightly in the air as I stepped sideways, trying to escape from the counter and from him. "Maria, you can get back to your place. Hehe."

"stop." ayden demanded as he walked towards me with his eyes still locked on mine. why? "Maria, can you get us one mocha and cappuccino? thanks."

"yes, sir, right away."

thankfully, she had called him sir because that made him look at her for a brief moment. i took that opportunity to start stepping away. he opened his mouth to say something but just sighed. he didn't like being called 'sir', and Maria called him exactly that, every time.
