One thing about deductions is that, even if you have the facts straight and eliminated the unlikely, there will be information that we'll overlook. And the smallest details will deconstruct everything you believed true.
"No, Demetrius is not with us. They think he's hiding with you right now. For now, their focus is finding (Y/N) and her brothers," the voice from the other side said. Donovan's hands on the table clenched tightly on the document he signed before getting the call. "Also, I think they're getting a wind about us. I think we'll leave sooner than expected."
Donovan didn't reply and ended the call. He took a deep breath before thrashing his table. With every object that fell, his rage only intensified. How could he?! he thought, over and over.
Demetrius' betrayal wasn't part of the plan. That kid was supposed to be a reflection of him. Since when did he slip his finger?
A sudden knock on the phone cut his thoughts. "Young Master Damian has arrived," said the head butler before he heard his step further away from the door.
"Right, that kid," he mumbled under his breath. He called upon one of the guards stationed outside his office to call for a maid to clean the mess he made before continuing his way to meet his youngest son.
As he enters the living room, he immediately notices Damian's stiff posture. He wasn't looking at anything except his twitching hands on his lap. Donovan sighed, he just knew this was going to be a long and difficult conversation. But he just had to call this kid as soon as possible. Thus, he pulled him from his afternoon classes for the day.
Immediately, Damian stood up to greet his Father as he noticed him approaching.
"Sit down, child," he said. "Do you want to eat something?"
"A-ah! I-I already ate before coming here, Father," Damian replied. Before his father came into the room, he tried to swallow the lump on his throat so many times but it just won't go away. He then wonders, do all people experience this when their parent calls them to have a conversation?
"How about school? Are you doing well?"
"Y-Yeah! I'm currently one of the top students in our year!" Damian's excitement was through the roof. Was he finally getting the recognition he so craved from the person he looked up to?
"Good. I don't expect much less," Donovan replied.
"Y-Yes, of course."
"How about your friends?"
"They're doing fine. They also joined the soccer team with me."
"That's good. Now, tell me, were there anything suspicious activities around your school recently? Or maybe not recently, maybe even before all this happened?"
Damian thought for a moment, his mind panicking. "Everyone in school tries to act normal as much as possible, but some have pressed their concern on the missing students... Especially Anya, she's been so sad because (Y/N)nee-chan hasn't been found. I've been trying to humor her about her so-called powers-" Damian stopped midway realizing that he started talking about something childish. Slowly his eyes drifted to his father who only looked at him surprised. His mind panicked. For the past few days, the only thing he could focus on was the down expression on a certain pinkette. He didn't think that he'd verbalize his fondness for the girl to his father.
Poor boy didn't realize that his father couldn't care less about his rantings, only the information he didn't expect to hear.
"Anya? That's the daughter of the Forgers, correct?"
"Yes."
A smirk formed on his lips. Ah, maybe his knowledge about the real identity of Twilight and Thorn Princess can be finally used.
