WITHIN THE DAYS THAT FOLLOWED the court case, life in the crazy town of Riverdale was stagnant. There was still chaos, but it was calmed, for the most part. Emilia laid on Sweet Pea's chest early one Saturday morning in his trailer. Livvy was at soccer, Claudia was at tennis, so she was a free agent for a few hours. "Are you sleeping?" Sweet Pea asked, running his fingers through her short hair that was starting to grow out.

"I was." Emilia muttered, one of Sweet Pea's large shirts covering her frame. Her face was smushed into his skin, his dog tags in her grip.

Sweet Pea kissed her head, holding his phone in his grip. "Well, SAT scores are out." he said, taking her phone from beside his bed and handing Emilia her phone.

She rubbed at her eyes and rolled over, using Sweet Pea's muscular arm as a pillow. "You first." Emilia wasn't going to be the first one to look at her scores.

After a minute, Sweet Pea spoke. "1290." he said, surprise clearly in his voice.

"How the fuck did you get a 1290?" Emilia turned her head, looking up at him, brows furrowed.

"No idea. Your turn." Sweet Pea put his phone down, still shocked.

Emilia inhaled and clicked the button, her eyes falling out her head. "I got a 1360." she said, jaw dropping.

"How the fuck did you get a 1360?" Sweet Pea asked, and the two had to laugh at their scores, because it was astonishing that two Serpents managed pretty good scores.

Smiling, Emilia rolled onto Sweet Pea's chest, kissing him, his hands falling to her waist. "I love you." she pecked his cheek, fingers running over his dimples.

Sweet Pea tugged her back down to his lips and groaned in disappointment when she pulled away, standing up beside his bed. "No, don't go." Sweet Pea whined, holding Emilia's hand, not letting her leave entirely.

Emilia rolled her eyes. "I have to. Maybe I can make it back tonight." she winked, pulling on her pants and swapping Sweet Pea's shirt with her own, gently combing through her hair before she kissed Sweet Pea once more, leaving on her bike.

WHEN EMILIA DID MAKE IT back to Sweet Pea's that night, she was surprised to see Josie leaving her boyfriend's trailer. Brows furrowed, Emilia took the key out of her bike and walked closer to the trailer, Josie lurching in surprise at her presence. "Oh! Hey, Emilia." Josie said, clearly covering something up.

"What are you doing here, Josie?" Emilia asked right away, not an ounce of friendliness in her body.

Josie stammered before she spoke a clear answer. "I was borrowing some of Sweet Pea's notes from school. He let me borrow them. I was just giving them back." Josie said, an obvious life.

Emilia frowned. "Sweet Pea doesn't take notes. We both steal from Fangs. So what the hell are you doing here?" Emilia questioned again, firmer.

At exactly the right moment, Sweet Pea stepped outside. "Hey, Meals." he said, hoping his voice was steady.

"What was she doing here? Don't lie to me, Sweet Pea." Emilia said, terrified that she was correct in her assumption of what was going on.

Sighing, Sweet Pea ran a hand through his hair. "I was asking her if I could talk to her mom about your case. Your attorney sucks, and her mom's a great lawyer. I thought she could help get you emancipated." Sweet Pea explained.

Emilia's anger began to disappear. "Why didn't you just tell me that?" she asked Josie, still confused.

Josie glanced once at Sweet Pea. "We didn't want to make you uncomfortable. But I will talk to my mom. I think she can help." Josie covered, and then she left quickly.

Emilia turned back to Sweet Pea. "Thanks for caring? I guess?" she said, unsure of what to do in this situation.

Now, Sweet Pea should've told Emilia the truth a long time ago. That Josie McCoy had been seeking him out since the beginning of the summer, flirting with him. Nothing ended up happening until the first time she came to his trailer, where she kissed him and he pushed her off. But the urge was starting to get stronger the more Josie came around. Sweet Pea should've told Emilia that Josie wanted to hook up with him that evening and he ended whatever mess they were in. He didn't, and that would cost him in the end.

Chaos rose again as Cheryl accidentally forced Moose Mason to come out as gay to his father, which led to Kevin and Moose being abducted from the secret bunker. Major Mason acted as the Gargoyle King to scare Moose back into the closet. Emilia learned all of this through Fangs, who had heard it from Kevin.

Then, Gladys Jones, who Emilia hated, showed back up in town with Jughead's little sister who was just about Claudia's age. Time was moving rather fast. Soon, the holidays would be upon them, and Emilia would be working like crazy to prepare. Riverdale was a mess, and Emilia wanted to leave, but there was no way she could. She just had to keep moving, keep going.
