𝓰𝓮𝓷𝓻𝓮: 𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓼𝓽

Akaashi stood in front of the grave of his only loved one, reminiscing about the memories they had together. He put the flowers on the side, sitting in front of the stone. His hand caressed the name that he longed to call out. But he knew, even if he did, no one would respond.

Y/N L/N

20xx-2024

A great friend, a true artist and someone we'd miss forever.

"Hi Y/N. How's it going?" He said, softly smiling. He blinked back the tears that came into his eyes.

"I miss you. A lot." He sniffled.

"There's an event for you today. Because it's been a year since you left us, I don't know why you did that, but I'd love to know it soon." Akaashi said, letting the tears fall.

He held the stone, and he cried. Because he knew he couldn't at the event. He despised himself every day for not knowing how broken you were. Despite being in a relationship for two years, he didn't know why you did that. He always blamed himself.

"I'm mad at you, you know? But I can't hate you. I love you too much for that." He said, wiping his tears.

"Every day, I ask the same question. And yet, I don't find an answer. I don't know what was bothering you, and I deeply apologise for that."

Akaashi wiped his tears and got up. He placed a kiss, as he always did, on the stone and caressed your name once again. He didn't know how to stop his chest from physically hurting. His heart hurt to the point that it felt like it could explode anytime.

He finally arrived at the event after stopping at his house and freshening up. Many people came and said sorry for your loss to him and your family. But their mere apologies couldn't heal the wound left inside their hearts.

"Akaashi, you okay?" Bokuto asked, putting a hand on his best friend's shoulder.

You, Akaashi and Bokuto had been best friends for a long time. If anyone could understand even the small amount of pain Akaashi had except your family, it was Bokuto. Even Bokuto lost a best friend, someone he had always admired and the smile which made his whole day.

The day they found out about your death was from Akaashi. He had found you in the bathroom with blood oozing out of your wrist. He screamed for you to wake up, he shook you all he could. He had taken you to the hospital while screaming for you not to leave him. He had called Bokuto and your mother, informing them about the situation. Bokuto had arrived the earliest.

When the doctor pronounced you dead, it felt like Akaashi's whole world had stopped. He didn't know what to do or how to feel. When he saw you lying lifeless on the hospital bed, the only thing that he'd done was kiss your forehead and then leave. He couldn't process the fact that the one person he loves more than his life, had taken her own.

"Yeah. I'm fine." Akaashi replied to Bokuto.

Bokuto hugged Akaashi. Even if it was for just 10 seconds, Akaashi had felt a sense of comfort. Bokuto's hugs reminded him of yours, the amount of comfort he felt and how safe he felt like he was home. The tears were coming back, so he pushed Bokuto off of him softly and shook his head. And Bokuto understood.

All of them sat, as one by one, all of Y/N's loved ones gave their speeches. Some of them being funny memories and some being heartbreaking ones. Some made Akaashi laugh, and some made him cry.

A short video of you being silly was played, which was made by Hinata and Tsukishima. It was a short 2-minute video of you doing things, which made the crowd have a good laugh. Akaashi saw your mother crying in your father's arms before heading to give a speech.

"Hi everyone. It's been a year since I lost the light of my life, my baby and the only one who made me worry and laugh at the same time. Y/N was a girl I think everyone needed in their life. She was someone who would bring your favourite snacks to your house if she heard you were sad. She was someone who would play the most foul song while you were crying and then dance to it to distract you. She was someone who loved flowers and babies. She was someone who loved giving gifts to her whole family. But most of all, she loved her boyfriend, Akaashi. In her last letter, I didn't find anything except a sorry mom and dad for ourselves, but I did find the whole letter being addressed to him. And so, Akaashi, thank you for loving her when we couldn't. Thank you for protecting her when we couldn't. And most of all, thank you for being her safe place when we couldn't." Your mom concluded the speech as she got off the stage and went straight to Akaashi.

She hugged Akaashi and cried in his chest. And Akaashi held her for as long as he could. He patted her back as tears took place in his own eyes. Your mom looked up in his eyes, holding his face.

"Please don't stop coming to our house. You're the only child I have that reminds me of her. I'd love for you to still keep visiting the house." She said.

"I know this isn't a nice moment, but ouch," Bokuto said, which made all three of them laugh.

Next in the line for speech was Akaashi.

"I don't know how to start or what to say. Y/N, has it really been a year since we lost you? To be honest, I still feel like you're here with us. Everything I see reminds me of you. When I see your favourite flowers, I remember how eager you got. When I see a kid blowing bubbles, I remember how you invaded my house and blew bubbles for an hour. When I see a Korean food stall, I remember how you jumped over to that stall even with a cast. I don't know what to say about Y/N. When I lost you, I lost a piece of myself. I lost the only thing that brought me happiness. I lost the only person who could make me love myself. I lost the sunshine that my dark life needed. I really hope wherever you are, you find the peace you were looking for. I love you, Y/N, and I always will. If a multiverse exists, I hope I find you and get to keep you in each of them. And just so you know, I'll always love you even if it means that I'll lose you in the end. Even then."

Akaashi ended his speech. Everyone clapped. The priest held a 2-minute silence to honour you. Akaashi looked at the sky and said,

"Just wait, Y/N, I'll join you soon enough."
