Grau rests his back against a pillar, looking down at his scroll. 9:21. Where the hell are they? Dez taps his finger on his bicep impatiently. Grau looks over at Dez, examining his eyes, and confirming his suspicions. They are EXACTLY the same as Ruby’s. His train of thought is interrupted by a whistle from a few feet away. His eyes snap in the direction of the noise, he is immediately met by the four members of team MAJJ.

“You’re late.” Grau says sternly. Narrowing his eyes on Amy, waiting to see if she’ll try anything.

“That would be my fault.” Jade says, stepping forward.

“Yeah… she insists on praying for 30 minutes every day morning, noon, and night…” Amy complains, nudging her sister. Jade rolls her eyes and laces her fingers together.

“I will not apologize for remaining true to my beliefs.” Jade remarks. Dez’s expression shifts. He could respect that…

“Anyway, we’re ready for the tour!” Mia says, planting her hands on her hips. Grau pushes himself off the wall, immediately stepping forward, making sure to keep an eye on Amy. Who delivers an annoying grin. He mutters to himself before pushing the doors to the cafe open. Mia is immediately surprised by how large the room is. Jiyuu raises an eyebrow at how organized the room is.

“Wow! This place is massive!” Mia shouts, immediately analyzing the architecture.

“I know right!” Olive shouts, zipping next to her. The two immediately start talking about how beautiful the room is, getting along like a house on fire.

Dez crosses his arms as Jade steps next to him, she glances down to a book in her hand before looking up at him. Dez silently looks down at her, they make brief eye contact. Jade slowly tilts her head, before flashing her fangs to him. He raises an eyebrow.

“Faunus?” Dez asks, looking down at her. Jade nods silently. Dez grunts in response. “Thought that Slade guy was a human.” he says, looking forward. Jade mirrors this, also looking forward.

“He found me during a raid on a White Fang facility in Vacuo, back when it was a large base for them. Me and hundreds of other children, meant to be ‘swords in the grand crusade against humanity.’ or that is what they would tell us…” She explains. Rubbing her hand over one of her arms. “Everyone else had families to return to. I did not. So Father took me in, raised me, taught me how to fight for those in the position I once found myself in.” She finishes, looking back down to her scripture. Dez looks at Amy, who was standing silently next to Grau.

“What’s her deal?” He asks. Not looking down at Jade. She looks up from her scripture and at Amy. She takes a breath and looks back down at her scripture.

“She is my dad’s biological daughter, and my best friend. She prides herself on having never missed a shot.” She explains. Dez grunts and looks at how she’s looking at him.

“She seems to have taken’ a likin’ to him.” Dez mentions, tapping his finger against his bicep. Jade simply chuckles, shaking her head.

“Maybe, but not in the way you intend.” Jade begins, still not looking up from her scripture. “She has more than likely taken a fascination with his skill. I assume she means to test him in some way.” She explains, before returning her eyes to her scripture. Dez looks back at Amy and Grau, he grunts to himself before turning to walk away. Mia and Olive continue their conversation with each other, continuing to get along well.

Jiyuu stands next to Scarlett with her arms crossed. Her fingers tap impatiently on her bicep, and she eyes the woman standing next to her distrustfully. Scarlett doesn’t seem to notice or care.

“Your aura reeks of Dishonor.” Jiyuu immediately starts. Grau furrows his brow under his mask, taking immediate note of Jiyuu’s dislike of his teammate. Jiyuu moves her attention from Scarlett to the rest of the team, her gaze flitting first to Olive “Hers of Inexperience.” her eyes then fall upon Grau and Dez, eyes slowly widening as she remains silent. She looks back at Scarlett.

“You are here to become a huntsman. Are you not?” She asks. Scarlett grits her teeth, trying to ignore Jiyuu and her judgment. Desmond notices Jiyuu continuously glancing between him and Grau.

“There a problem?” Grau asks, stopping dead in his tracks. Jiyuu pauses and continues looking at Dez, but occasionally glances at Grau. Jiyuu hesitates before answering him, and only gives him a slight shake of her head in response. Despite this dismissal, Grau is not satisfied. He frowns and continues leading the new team to their destination. Grau leads the group through the primary hallway, still thinking about Jiyuu’s strange interest in him and Dez. He can’t get the dark look in her eyes out of his brain. It unsettles him in a way he can’t quite explain. He navigates the Academy on autopilot, his teammates following in his wake. Olive is in tour guide mode, directing the members of MAJJ to the different lecture halls. Grau loses himself in thought. Desmond takes notice of Grau’s characteristic, yet uncomfortable silence. He thinks to himself about how he… doesn’t really know that much about Grau. He didn’t really care before realizing it now.

“And over here is Professor Ooblek’s office! He teaches World History and sometimes helps the more experienced teams with their first missions.” Olive explains. Mia once again admires the craftsmanship of the building around them.

“How come you’re so much more cheery than cloak-no-daggar over there?” Amy asks, once again antagonizing Grau. He stops walking and slowly turns to look at her, peering at her from behind the shadow of his hood. The two stare at each other. Amy with a shit eating grin on her face, Grau with clear annoyance.

“Well, Grau has a lot on his shoulders. He’s got a lot to manage as the leader of our team.” She explains, before Grau chimes in.

“Stop calling me that, Olive.” He says firmly. “I’m not the leader. I’m just picking up the slack because somebody refuses to do it.” He says with every ounce of venom he can muster, staring daggers into Scarlett. She rolls her eyes and taps her bicep. Olive remains silent before Grau turns around and continues walking through the main hall.

“Let’s get to the training hall before the building is flooded by students.” He directs, his cloak flowing behind him.

The teams make it to the training hall. Immediately, Jade is fascinated by the size of the various arenas in the building.

“Welcome to my personal favorite place in the school!” Olive announces, bouncing up and down as she explains. “Grau and I train here all the time!” Grau steps onto the main arena and crosses his arms.

“There are two major options for training. You can fight other students one on one, first aura to crack loses. Or you can use the terminal over there to activate up to 20 robots to attack you at once.” He begins, motioning to the multiple shut-down robots on the outside of the arena. “Personally I am partial to training with actual people. Robots are better if you need more experience facing a non-Grimm opponent. Against anyone above entry level they’re a joke and only effective in large numbers.” he finishes. Scarlett looks away and mutters profanity under her breath. As she does Amy steps onto the arena to get a better look at the robots. As soon as she does the arena lights activate and a bright blue laser grid flashes over the edges of the arena. Grau draws his sword and shield, readying himself for anything. Amy draws her pistols, aiming them at Grau.

“Just whaddya think you’re tryna pull?!” She shouts, Grau stands defensively, holding his shield in front of him.

“What are you talking about?” Grau asks, his eyes darting around the arena before he once again catches a familiar sight. A man with bright gray hair and a cain standing in the top of the room looking down on the arena. The administrator’s terminal open next to him.

“Ozpin?” Grau mutters to himself. Before he quickly shields his face and knee from two bullets from Amy.

“Since we’re here… may as well take advantage of the situation!” She jokes, smiling as she aims her pistols at Grau. “Bring it on skull-fucker!” She shouts, before she shoots at Grau a couple more times. Grau quickly deflects the bullets in multiple different directions, either smashing into the ground or the laser grid around them. He grits his teeth and closes his eyes, he takes a deep breath and slowly opens them, his eyes now have a black rim around his iris, readying himself for a real fight.
