"Paghpera?" I asked, unfamiliar with the term.

Mumma smiled gently, understanding my confusion. "Yes, it's a ritual where the bride visits her parents' house for the first time after her wedding. It's a small ceremony, but it holds a lot of importance. Your brother will come and take you back home for today"

After lunch Daksh already came

"Nishu!" he called out, stepping inside and giving me a wide grin.

I couldn't help but smile back, rushing over to hug him tightly. "Daksh! I've missed you."

He hugged me back, patting my head the way he always did when we were kids. "Missed you too"

We pulled apart, and I noticed that Mumma and Dadi had come into the room, watching our reunion with fond smiles.

"Namaste, aunty" Daksh corrected himself with a sheepish smile as he greeted Mrs. Shravani. "Namaste, Dadi."

Dadi, who had been watching silently, finally spoke up. "Take care of her, Daksh.Kabir will come to pick her up by 8 Pm"

Mumma then gestured toward the door. "You should get going. It's a long drive, and you'll want to spend as much time with your family as possible."

I nodded, suddenly feeling a bit emotional. "Thank you, Mumma," I said again, the word coming more naturally this time. "I'll be back soon."

As I entered my home, I saw Amma, Nanna, and waiting for me, all smiles and excitement on their faces. Amma's eyes lit up the moment she saw me, and she rushed forward, her hands cupping my face as she looked me up and down.

"Look at you, Nishuuu! You look so beautiful,"Amma exclaimed, her voice filled with pride.

I smiled, trying to push aside the heaviness in my heart. I didn't want to upset her. I had to pretend to be happy as amma was there.Amma was so pleased with everything. She had wanted this marriage so much, and I couldn't break her heart by telling her how I truly felt.

Nanna, standing a little behind, smiled warmly. "We've been waiting for you all morning, kanna," he said. "How was everything at Kabir's house?"

"They were all very nice, Nanna," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "They've been very welcoming."

"How is Kabir?" Amma asked, her voice filled with curiosity and excitement. "You two must be getting to know each other."

I hesitated, not knowing how to answer. The truth was, Kabir hadn't really tried to get to know me at all. He was distant, preoccupied, and it was clear that this marriage wasn't something he wanted either. But how could I tell that to Amma, who had been so eager for this alliance?

"He's... busy," I finally said, trying to sound casual.

Amma's face fell a little. "Nishu talli, I know this can be difficult. But please, adjust with their family," she said gently.
