—ASTRAS POV—
(Aged 18, 6 years later)

'September 1st- the day all teenagers dread, also known as the first day of the school year. Kill me'. It's only 6am and I already want to go to sleep for the night. It's currently quarter past six on a Monday morning, I've wasted 15 minutes just procrastinating the day but yet it's so early that still night time outside, but the lack of sleep is the price you have to pay to have a good first impression at a new school. Reluctantly I hauled my tired body up into a sitting position as I attempted to re adjust and simply wake myself up. A few moments later I was finally awake and so began the painfully long process of getting ready.

The first day is always a big deal in school, especially in a new school with new people, so choosing todays outfit and doing my makeup required extra precautions. Eventually I decided on a simple cropped white t-shirt, my favorite pair of ripped black jeans and a very oversized leather jacket, to top of the outfit I added my signature headphones, they go everywhere with me to the point I genuinely don't think I could survive without them. Once the clothes where sorted and styled properly I started on my makeup, at this point in the year we haven't been given any dress codes or any information about the school rules so not wanting to make any enemy's with the teachers, my normal foundations a simple Smokey eye seemed like the best option. By the time I was ready it was already 7:30, meaning I still had time to get breakfast and walk to meet ivy, she's normally late anyways so there was no rush to leave.

I live in a small town in Tennessee, I moved her after... the accident, and I won't lie not much goes on here. It's just me and my grandma after the crash so most of the time it's just me her and of course ivy, I swear her and my nan are closer than I am with her. But when I'm not with with either of them I go to my favorite coffee shop in the corner of the local library, which is convenient as these are my two favorite places to be. 'It's only 7:45am, still enough time to get a drink and read for a while', i thought to myself as I tied the laces to my doc martens.

The weather in Tennessee is normally quite wet, but that's perfect because the Rainy weather feels like the world hits pause for a moment, dark sheets of clouds consume the sky giving us a perfect reason to stay home, unfortunately that's not the case today. It's September so the autumn feeling is at its peak, the rain has been replaced with the eeriness of fog, and the leaves have been transformed into a beautiful amber colours that I can admire on my journey. Walking through the park I take in all the scenery around me, it's still early so the grounds are very deserted but even with nobody around the nature is more than enough to take in, although most of the trees are starting to decay and die for winter there's still a gorgeous gradient of leaves among the tree line, fading from a vibrant emerald green down to a muddy brown, it's truly breathtaking.

The library is about a 15 minute walk from my nans house, giving me plant of time to embrace the natural beauties of the world around me, the combination of that and my morning music mix is what makes life worth living, today I started with "we fell in love in October" by girl in red to listen to as I walked, the melody and lyrics of the song fitting perfectly with the autumn mood. A few songs later I finally got to the library, it was now 8:15 meaning I have roughly 30 minutes before I have to endure the extroverted demon know as ivy, who also happens to be my best friend since we were 14 years old. Don't get me wrong I love ivy with all my heart but I never realized how nice silence was until I met her.

Arriving at the library I plonked myself in my usual seat, a convenient place right in the corner of the main hall, it's a comfortable corner with a collection of antique chairs but the main reason I sit here is Because the shelf  directly next to my chair is filled to the brim with arguably the best genres of book, dystopian and fantasy. On My last visit I decided to re read one of my favourite books growing up, the original hunger games, so ultimately thought I might as well continue from where I left off. I'm about a hundred pages in and just getting it the thrilling start of the games, very quickly I found myself engrossed in the story of Katniss, as if I was the one who was really there fighting and not her. It would be my dream to be able to go to one of the made up worlds in the books I read, to experience the different adventures the characters go through on a daily basis, but for now I'm stuck reading about them instead.
