A HAPPY FAMILY.

PROLOGUE

"...and, this is your room" Mrs. Linda opened the wooden door which made a creaking sound.

"Oh..." Avery stared at the mouldy looking room that smelled damp and suffocating "t-thanks... I guess"

"Sorry, the room smells terrible and looks old..." Mrs. Linda scrunched her nose "...our previous maid forgot to clean up"

"N-no, it's okay. I can manage, or start cleaning up now..." Avery beamed slightly.

"Great then, you can start cleaning up here" Mrs. Linda turned around, leaving "I'll see you in a bit"

Avery sighed then stared at the damp looking room "time to clean up..." She muttered to herself and walked into the room, she looked around and realized all the windows were closed.

"So that was why it was suffocating..." She grumbled then opened the windows, letting the fresh air in "Why'd they close the damn windows...?"

"Are you the new maid around here...?" A voice came as Avery turned around in a swift, a girl stood there leaning against the doorframe while her arms were folded, she had midnight blue eyes with jet black shoulder length hair that had bangs, there were black circles under her eyes, her nose was pierced and she wore a black loosed shirt with rolled up sleeves and some dark washed jeans.

"Yes, I'm Avery" Avery beamed "what about you?"

The girl stared at Avery for quite a while, the tension got higher, it was eerily quiet and the clock was ticking.

"It's lilly," the girl replied breaking the ice as Avery nodded.

"How old are you...?" Avery asked as Lilly stared at her again, Avery gulped for she was getting nervous again, she started fiddling with her fingers and she was biting her lower lip, why did this girl seem weird?

"I'm fifteen," she said.

"That's great, I can't wait to get to know more about you" Avery beamed as Lilly sighed.

"They all said that..." She muttered to herself as Avery raised her brows.

"Pardon me? You said something?" Lilly flinched and stared at Avery with her eyes wide then switched it to a smile.

"Nothing, I can't wait to get to know more about you too" she skipped off happily as Avery blinked her eyes twice in shock. Who was that? She shrugged then dropped her bags aside and went upstairs to get the cleaning materials when she bumped into a solid figure, she looked up to find a guy towering over her, he looked around Avery's age and had the same hair and eye features as Lilly but his blue eyes were darker- he smirked and glanced down at Avery.

"And you are...?" He leaned in, asking Avery as she stepped back with a gulp.

"I-it's Avery, I'm the new maid around here" she looked around avoiding eye contact as the guy smirked at the word 'maid'

"Maid... Huh" he stared at Avery's chest as she covered them with her hands hugging her body- she was trembling and she felt uncomfortable around this guy "I'm Xavier," he extended his hand as Avery stared at it before shaking it in return.

"I'm the eldest child in this house and the only son, how old are you?" He asked her as she glimpsed at him.

"I'm eighteen," she said as his brows shot up in surprise.

"Same, what a coincidence" he replied as she nodded "well, I'll let you get back to work. See you around, Avery" he winked then brushed his hand against hers which made her flinch.

She turned around to see his silhouette vanish into a room as she sighed.

Why was everyone weird in this house? Including Mrs. Linda, she was so strange and the house itself was the strangest, it was mysteriously quiet and the tension was really high, Avery also felt like she was being watched, the doors and windows always creeked when they moved and she was hearing whispers in the walls... She sighed once again.

Should she have rejected the offer?
