Clara slipped out of the confines of the couch, tiptoeing to the kitchen where Emily was busy brewing a fresh pot of coffee. The aroma filled the air.
"Morning, sleepyhead!" Emily chirped, her hair a wild halo around her face. "How are you feeling today?"
Clara poured herself a cup of coffee, savouring the rich flavour. "Better, I think. Just trying to wrap my head around everything." She leaned against the counter, grateful for the familiar rhythm of Emily's presence. "I keep wondering what comes next."
"Well, you have a whole new life to figure out. Let's make the most of it!" Emily grinned, her enthusiasm infectious. "How about we head to campus early? We can grab breakfast at that café you love and get a head start on the semester."
Clara smiled back, her heart lightening. "That sounds perfect. I still have to finalise my schedule, and maybe I'll pop by the military recruitment booth. I've been meaning to do that."
"Just remember," Emily said, her tone turning serious, "you don't have to rush into anything. Take your time to figure out what you really want."
"Trust me, I will." Clara took a sip of her coffee, letting the warmth seep into her. "This is all new territory for me, and I want to make sure I choose the right path."
They quickly dressed and headed out into the crisp morning air, the streets of Newlarney bustling with students and locals alike. Clara felt a thrill of freedom wash over her as they walked. This was her world now, one filled with opportunities and possibilities.
As they approached the university, Clara's heart raced with anticipation. She had always been passionate about science, particularly the environment, and she was excited to dive deeper into her studies. But her desire to join the military loomed large in her mind, a nagging whisper urging her to take that first step.
The campus was alive with energy, students chatting and laughing as they moved between buildings. Clara and Emily made their way to the café, where they snagged a table by the window. The view of the sprawling campus and distant mountains filled Clara with a sense of purpose.
"Okay, let's tackle your schedule," Emily said, pulling out a notebook and pen. "What classes are you thinking of?"
"I want to focus on climate science and maybe something in political science too," Clara replied, her fingers tracing the rim of her coffee cup. "I feel like understanding policy will be essential if I want to make real changes."
"Sounds great! You'll have the best of both worlds," Emily encouraged, jotting down her ideas. "And remember, you're not just a princess. You're a student with a mission."
"Exactly," Clara said, a spark igniting within her. "I want to prove that I can do more than just attend royal functions."
As they reviewed her options, Clara couldn't shake the thought of the military recruitment booth. Her heart raced at the idea of taking the leap. She wanted to break free from the expectations that had been placed upon her for so long. Joining the military would not only allow her to serve her country but also give her the chance to step into her own identity.
After breakfast, they made their way to the student centre, where the recruitment booths were set up. Clara's pulse quickened as they approached the military booth. A friendly-looking officer stood behind the table, brochures neatly arranged in front of him.
"Good morning, Your Highness!" he greeted them with a smile. "Interested in learning more about joining the military?"
Clara felt a wave of nerves wash over her, but she nodded, steeling herself. "Yes, I am. I've been thinking about enlisting after I finish my studies."
