Selina wiped the water droplets off her bicycle's seat. The ground lay with a cover of wetness, the clouds continuing to swirl in the sky. The rain continued to drizzle as she adjusted herself onto her bicycle.

As she slowly pedaled her bike into momentum, she zoomed past students.

She did not like riding in the rain as she did not like the feeling of her hair drenched, let alone her schoolwork. Walking is simply unbearable when one has a bicycle.

So she kept pedaling.

Dropplets hit the reflection of the clocktower on the lake as the rain began pouring down with more generosity. Biking was still bearable. The trees rustled, almost fighting against the rain. Selina made her usual route around town, just with fewer people out and about on the streets today.

She was slowly losing her sight of vision, as she opposed against the rain. She momentarily balanced herself with one hand and wiped her face with the other. Continuing her balance, she wished to return in one piece.

Her mind started to wonder about Jim again. She had figured not to say a word to him, even after class. Her anger has washed away.

She biked past a lamp post.

Bickering never solved anything. So, she kept going.

Twigs broke behind her as she rode faster.

She reached her usual path below the forest trees. The path usually lay uneven, but today, the path was muddy to Selina's displeasure. She trodded on as she wanted the day to be ridden off. The mud splashed against her, but she set her mind on the warm bath she may be a part of once back home. The thought kept her going.

Alas, her blurry vision could only see so far from the collapsing rain, and soon, a shadow started to form in front of her eyes. There lay something. A deer?

A wolf?

No. There lay a tree.

Selina's thoughts came to a slamming halt, as did her bicycle.

"What?" Selina stammered as water rushed into her mouth through the phrase.

The tree lay a mystery that was not present the day before. Every day taking this path, she never ran into such a predicament, let alone such murky rain.

As the severity of the weather started to hold Selina heavily, she thought of any attempt to reach home. The tree's bark was too massive to jump over, let alone throw a bicycle over. Going around seemed impossible as the forest seemed to be flooding with all sorts of greens and now, well, water.

She slowly started to retreat, with no plan in her head. As she biked in the opposite direction, her bicycle slid on a slippery stone. Recovering barely, she took a sharp right, being aware of her decisions.

She would take the train route. She never had to take it, since the forest road was faster and more efficient. But if her memory served her right, she could make it out of this storm.

Her coat remained drenched, with no sign of dryness across her belongings. She hoped her pouches and zippers would protect the precious school work she had spent countless hours on.

After about 15 minutes, she came to a clearing through the forest. Exhausted and almost defeated, she managed to bike her way up an uphill pebbly path which led to empty train tracks.

She had never actually seen a train in function here.

As her front tire hit the metal tracks, she paused for a minute, heaving heavily. The rain made it hard for her to breathe, but she tried her best to, as she hunched her neck down to gasp.

As her heartbeat reached a steady rate, she looked at the hill she stood on top of. Surrounding her was gravel leading to the train tracks, that seemed to extend beyond her gaze. The rain trickled down from the desolate hill as Selina squeezed rain out of her hair.

The rain did not seem to come to a halt, so with a huff of air, Selina attempted to get back on her bicycle. But as she did, something glimmered in the corner of her eye. Almost blinding her, she turned around cautiously. Something lay hidden underneath the rocks, mud, and rain on the train tracks.

As the rain continued to relentlessly fall on her, she began to understand the urgency of needing to get back to the castle. But she was stuck. She was stuck staring at the tracks, waiting for a glimmer. A trick of the eye. Or just fate?

Getting on her bicycle and strapping on her side bag dearly, she continued to gaze in that direction. She wandered her eyes around to the luscious trees that danced in front of her, hoping for a cause. Desolate.

Finding absurdity in her naivety, she pedaled over one side of the train track but stopped in between.

She was not crazy. Her vision may be distorted by the rain, but that is no reason for her to be this disheveled. What was it?

A glimmer.

She shot her neck to the right faster than she could understand what was ahead of her. The tracks lay empty. But she could hear a small rumble, shaking the pebels she stood on.

Jumping off her bike almost out of fear, her bike took a hit for the ground. Her heart rate was back up.

Yet still, nothing. But, she knew there was something there.

She slowly started to inch towards the direction of the mysterious shimmer. What did it matter? Her shoes were covered in mud, begging to be taken care of. But the storm simply continued to grow stronger as a gust of wind hit Selina's soaked hair. She continued.

She stood on top of some mud and pebbles, certain she saw something. Her bike lay just by the parameters of her vision, conformed by the rain. She knew it was too late to reason with her mind, so she let it be.

She crouched down, digging through the dirt, reasoning with her madness. Her coat soon was covered in the Earth, as her hands gave no mercy.
