"Well, you can't be angry with him for not asking you to the dance when you aren't even boyfriend and girlfriend." Said Chris, as we walked down the hall, towards our dorm.
"I know but, it's just, I don't know if we are or not." I said.
"Well, what would make you think that you're his girlfriend?" Chris asked curiously. I sighed, and put my head in my hands.
"I told him I loved him." I muttered, feeling stupid.
"Did he say he loved you back?" Chris asked, excitedly.
"Yes." I said, still feeling stupid.
"Did he blink?" Chris asked cautiously.
"No." I answered.
"So he wasn't lying!" Chris said giddily. "That's a good thing!"
"Yeah, I guess so," I said, feeling pretty low, and almost wishing I had taken my "happy pills" today. "But I'm still confused."
"Well, boys are confusing," said Chris with a grin, pulling out our dorm key, to open the door, but realizing the door was already open a crack. "What the hell?" she muttered, pushing the door open.
"I didn't leave it open this morning." I said, confused.
"Someone must have come in." She said, sounding agitated. "Probably Menson. Stupid bastard." She said under her breathe, setting her stuff down on the floor, and sitting on her bed.
"Noting looks out of place." I said, peeking into our closet, and desk drawers. I sat on my bed, and noticed something was lying on top of my pillow. "What's this?" I muttered, picking up something long, and green. It was the stem of a rose. I pulled the big red blossom close to my nose, and breathed deeply, and smiled. I now associated the smell of roses directly with Brian.
"What's that?" Chris asked, staring at me with a rose in my hand. I ignored her, and picked up this small piece of white paper that lay on my pillow. Written in very delicate script, in red ink, were the words, 'No one could ever come between you and me on Halloween'. A little creepy, perhaps, but sweet nonetheless!
I grinned widely, and buried the note in my desk, and set the rose on my bed, and walked out of the room, with Chris calling after me. "Where are you going?" she asked as I closed the door. But I didn't want to talk to her right now. I was really happy, and only needed to talk to one person.
I knocked on the door of Brian's dorm room, and he answered it a few moments later. I stood there, probably grinning like an idiot. "I got your note." I said meekly.
"You did?" he replied coyly, smiling, with his big blue eyes beaming, and his brown hair falling across them. "Yes."
"Well....?" he asked nervously. "Do you, um, want to go, ugh, with me?" He stuttered. I stood there for a moment, silently, letting him squirm, before wrapping my arms around his neck, and whispering in his ear, "Yes."
He buried his face in my neck, and I could feel him grinning, as he kissed me once, swiftly, before we both went back to my dorm.
"What's up with the two of you?" Chris asked Brian and I, as we came back to my room, grinning broadly.
Brian blurted, "I asked her out!" in this giddy high pitched voice very much unlike his deep speaking voice, and Chris laughed loudly, before standing up and giving him a high five.
"Well done, man!" she said laughing. "You finally grew some balls!"
"Hey!" he shouted, laughingly. "Watch your mouth you little multiple personality."
"I'm more than a multiple personality!" squealed Chris, pretending to cry like a baby. We all joked around, and laughed for about half an hour, before deciding we better go down to the cafeteria for something to eat, before the cafeteria lady got pissed off, and started feeding us bird seed or something. "She's done it before," said Brian warningly. "I swear to God!"
