This is a part 3 to the 'Aunt Em and Uncle Henry meeting Dorothy's friends' chapters. The family stays in Oz for the night and as the title says, poor Dorothy has a nightmare.

Dorothy got her own room with Toto and Aunt Em and Uncle Henry got their own room next to Dorothy's. Dorothy was twisting and turning in her sleep. She was having one of those nightmares again. She soon woke up from the nightmare, scared. Toto woke up as Dorothy sat up. Dorothy grabbed Toto for a hug.

"Oh Toto, I had another nightmare" Dorothy fearfully said to the dog.

Dorothy stood up with Toto still in her arms. This nightmare seemed bad. Dorothy quietly left her room and started to walk to the library in the palace. When she got there she found the Scarecrow looking for a book.

"Scarecrow" Dorothy called out while walking up to him.

Scarecrow jumped a little and turned around to see Dorothy. His normal smile turned to a frown of worry when he saw how scared Dorothy looked.

"Dorothy, are you ok?" Scarecrow asked with worry as he met her and got to her level.

Dorothy put her head on Scarecrow's shoulder and used one arm for a hug while the other was still around Toto.

"I'm fine, I just had a nightmare" Dorothy replied.

Scarecrow hugged Dorothy back with worry.

"What type of nightmare?" Scarecrow asked.

"Of the Nome king" Dorothy sadly said as she lifted her head off of Scarecrow's shoulder. "They're horrible"

Scarecrow wiped some tears he saw that came out of Dorothy's eyes.

"I can see why the nightmares are horrible. That whole thing was horrific for you kids" Scarecrow stated while referring to Dorothy and Jack.

"Oh it is" Dorothy sadly said.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Scarecrow asked in a calm but worried tone. "If you want to, of course"

"In these nightmares I see you guys get eaten and I can't help you guys. I always try to find Tiktok's ornament to try to get help but I always wake up before getting crushed" Dorothy said crying as she put her head on Scarecrow's shoulder again.

Scarecrow hugged her to comfort her. He didn't fully know how to help since he never had a nightmare before.

"And I still have nightmares about the Wicked Witches to" Dorothy sobbed.

"You do?" Scarecrow asked in a quiet tone.

"Yep, and I don't like them. I don't like seeing you getting eaten by the Nome king or burned by the Wicked Witch of the West or getting your straw being torn out of you" Dorothy said.

"That sounds awful Dorothy. No kid should have these nightmares" Scarecrow said in a sad tone.

Scarecrow continued to comfort Dorothy.

"Dorothy, I may not fully understand the whole nightmare thing and can't really give good advice but Nick might have some to help comfort you" Scarecrow quietly said. "Do you want to find him?"

"Sure" Dorothy quietly said, still holding Toto close.

They broke the hug and stood up. Dorothy grabbed ahold of Scarecrow's hand as they left the library. They quietly made their way to the room the Tinman was staying in. Dorothy was the one who knocked on the Tinman's room door.

"Come in" Nick said through the door.

Scarecrow opened the door and held it open for Dorothy. Soon as Nick saw Dorothy, he went up to her with worry.

"Are you ok Dorothy? Are you hurt?" Nick asked the girl he knew that had cried hard not long ago.

Dorothy teared up again and hugged him with a free arm. Nick hugged Dorothy back as he teared up as well.

"She's not hurt, she has bad nightmares" Scarecrow replied to Nick.

Nick picked up Dorothy and walked to the bed to sit down. Scarecrow followed.

"What kind of nightmares?" Nick asked Dorothy.

"Like of the Wicked Witches and the Nome king" Dorothy replied.

Dorothy told Nick about some of her nightmares like she did to Scarecrow. Nick started to cry along with Dorothy and Scarecrow had to try to dry both of their tears. Toto tried to do some quiet happy barks to cheer them up. After Dorothy and Nick calmed down, Scarecrow spoke.

"Nick, do you have any suggestions or ideas on how to help Dorothy with her nightmares?" Scarecrow asked the Tinman.

"I...I don't know. It's been a long time since I had one" Nick replied while looking down at Dorothy with a sad face. "But I do remember how my mom would tell a made up story to help me go back to sleep"

"Is it like when Scarecrow sings his song to help comfort us?" Dorothy asked.

"Well, yes" Nick replied.

"Can you tell me one please?" Dorothy asked Nick.

Scarecrow and Nick looked at each other with a smile. Nick stood up with Dorothy still in his arms.

"Let's get back to your room first" Nick said.

Scarecrow got up and they walked to the door. They walked out in the hall and went to Dorothy's room. Toto all of the way was moving happily in Dorothy's arms, clearly happy Dorothy isn't all that sad anymore. When they got to Dorothy's room, Nick sat Dorothy on her bed.

"Get yourself comfortable" Nick said to Dorothy.

"I'll try" Dorothy happily chuckled.

Nick smiled as he pulled a chair closer to the bed. Dorothy laid down and Scarecrow put the blanket over her. Toto laid up at the foot of the bed. Nick sat down on the chair as Scarecrow sat on the bed. Nick started to tell Dorothy one of the few stories he could recall. After the story, Dorothy was peacefully asleep. Scarecrow and Nick left the room once they knew Dorothy was going to be ok. When the room door closed, Scarecrow sadly sighed as he put his head into his hands.

"Are you ok there, Scarecrow?" Nick asked Scarecrow in a whisper as he put a hand on his shoulder.

"No..." Scarecrow replied in a whisper.

Scarecrow looked up at Nick with sadness.

"I know what books to find now" Scarecrow sadly whispered.

"What type of books?" Nick asked.

"Books to help to deal with nightmares" Scarecrow whispered a reply.
