[Y/N]

"Congratulations, Y/n!" Ila excitedly chirps in, taking me into a hug. It swells my chest like no other to have her this close to me again. I might've held her for a minute too long and refused to let her go. "I knew you'd turn it around!"  My twin gushes.

I don't do well with compliments. Like, what the fuck am I supposed to do? Smile and nod?

I settle for an awkward smile, my eyes darting around the room as everyone watches me. Do people really have to stare? If that wasn't bad enough, I can feel their silent judgments lurking just beneath the surface. I just know each and every single one of them in the room has some sort of opinion about me. And that alone makes my skin crawl.

I hate this.

I do what I do best in these situations. Block them. Block them off my mind, their scrutiny and words. I shove them back deep into my mind.

Arabel heard none of my protests and threw a congratulatory party on Taehyung's yacht, which he uses for parties. The last time I was here, Taehyung threw a party for Ila. The difference is, that time, he wanted to do it because he loves my sister and this time... he did it because he was practically forced by Arabel.

Ugh. I just want to go home and call it a day. I'm perfectly fine not being the center of attention. I actually prefer it that way.

"Well, Y/n. Looks like you proved yourself... finally," Jules snarks, her voice cutting through the laughter.

I almost roll my eyes at her, this woman got in my last nerve today. If it wasn't for the professional setting, I would've gotten her a referral letter to a plastic surgeon after I was done with her face.

"Well, my twin has her ways." Ila proudly tells everybody. I couldn't help but smile sheepishly. "Her tongue may be vile, but they come in handy sometimes!" She laughs out loud at her own joke.

I chuckle awkwardly, unsure how that joke landed with the rest of the room. The laughter that follows seems like it was received well.

"Vile tongue, huh?" Jules smirks.

"Hey, little miss perfect." I snap my fingers at Jules, "My sister can make that joke, not you by the way."

The fake smile I plaster on is the cherry on top, and I can see Jules stiffen, caught off guard. Maybe now she'll think twice before running her mouth. I thought she was nice when I first joined. But clearly, she is more into office gossip than fixing her attitude.

"Y/n, I give where credit's due. You did well by landing this deal." I hear Lilly speaking. But I'm mindless, when she talks my eyes roam around the deck, searching for one person, Kim Taehyung.

I haven't seen him since I spoke to Arabel. Partly because she insisted I spend more time with her but mostly because she strictly ordered Taehyung to prepare this celebratory event for me. Now that the event is in full swing, everyone from the company is here—even Jungkook. But he is nowhere to be found.

I wanted to see him after Arabel talked about her husband. Something about the way she spoke stirred emotions I wasn't prepared for. And now, I hate that my mood is soiled because he isn't here. I hate even more that, despite my rocky relationship with him, I feel comfortable around him. At least with him, I don't have to fake my personality or sugarcoat anything. And now, without him here, I feel...uneasy. It's ridiculous.

At least, I have Ila here with me. Otherwise, I might've seriously considered jumping off this yacht to escape this suffocating party. ''Oh Y/n, I will be back in a bit. You enjoy-''
