The Next Morning
As the sun rose, bathing the palace in golden light, Jehun was busy in the kitchen, her hands skillfully preparing breakfast for the royal family. Today, she had decided to avoid the dining room, still feeling the sting of yesterday's incident. She wanted to avoid drawing any more attention to herself, especially from Queen Porsha.
Meanwhile, the royal family gathered for breakfast. Taehyung took his seat at the head of the long table, but his mind was elsewhere. As the maids served the food, he discreetly scanned the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of Jehun.
His heart sank when he realized she was nowhere to be found. “Where could she be?” he thought to himself, a frown forming on his brow. “Why am I even thinking about her?” He shook his head, trying to push the thoughts aside.
As he sat with his family, the chatter and laughter around him felt distant. He forced himself to focus on his meal, but his mind kept wandering back to the young maid. There was something about her that intrigued him, a spark of determination in her demeanor that he couldn’t quite shake.
With a heavy sigh, he concentrated on the food before him, attempting to engage in conversation with his family. But even as he spoke, a part of him remained restless, yearning to understand why he felt drawn to someone he hardly knew.
After finishing their meal, the royal family slowly dispersed, and Taehyung rose from the table, his mind still preoccupied with thoughts of Jehun.
As a king, he had duties to fulfill, and it was time to focus on the responsibilities that came with the crown. He walked through the grand halls of the palace, the sound of his footsteps echoing off the marble floors.
Taehyung made his way to the council room, where advisors awaited his presence. He entered, taking his seat at the head of the long, ornate table. The council members bowed slightly in respect as he settled in.
“Majesty, we need to discuss the upcoming trade agreements,” one advisor began, spreading out a series of scrolls and maps before him.
Taehyung listened intently, his gaze shifting between the documents and the faces of his advisors. He nodded occasionally, offering his insights on the proposed terms and the benefits for the kingdom.
However, his focus was fragmented. He couldn’t help but feel a nagging curiosity about Jehun. “What is she doing right now? Is she alright?” The thought gnawed at him, even as he discussed matters of state.
The meeting progressed with discussions about taxes, security, and public welfare. Taehyung engaged with his advisors, presenting his ideas and listening to their recommendations. Despite the weight of his responsibilities, a part of him remained distracted, wondering how the young maid was adapting to her new role in the palace.
As the meeting drew to a close, he realized he needed to check on her. “I’ll need to ensure she’s settling in well,” he thought, making a mental note to visit the kitchen later. The responsibilities of a king were many, but he found himself increasingly intrigued by the life of one small maid.
Then Taehyung walked toward the kitchen, he felt a sense of anticipation. He had been curious about Jehun since their first encounter, and the thought of seeing her again brought an unexpected flutter to his heart.
As he approached, he noticed that the kitchen was unusually quiet. Other maids had stepped out for a moment, leaving Jehun alone. She was busy at work, her hands moving gracefully as she chopped vegetables and prepared the dinner meal. What caught Taehyung’s attention, however, was the soft, melodious sound that floated through the air.
