I felt myself moving, but I didn't hear anything. It looked like I was going up based on the lights passing me and how the movement felt. A red light reflected into the small transportation I was recently trapped in. The box thing stopped to a sudden halt, making me lose my balance and land on the ground. Doors slid open above me, blinding me with the light.

I didn't know what was going on until I felt somebody jump into the box. A boy with blonde hair and some weird eyebrows. He spoke words, but I couldn't hear them. He looked confused when I didn't reply. He spoke the words again and I tried to catch them by reading his lips. I only caught remember and name. Is he asking if I remember my name?

"Y/N?" I spoke out, feeling my voice in my throat. He noticed the way I spoke and looked confused again. He called to somebody and they threw some ropes down. The boy pointed up, instructing me to climb the rope and I obeyed.

Once we were out, he went over to some boy who had dirty blonde hair and a jaw square shaped. He glanced over to me then back to eyebrow kid. He gave one final nod to eyebrows and walked over to me. He wrote in the dirt next to me.

"Are you deaf?" It read. I nodded and he gave a look of understanding. He wrote some more words in the dirt.

I'm Newt and that boy that helped you is Gally. I nodded and he smiled. He stood up and held out his hand, indicating for me to take it, which I did. He helped me off the ground and started walking, while making a come here motion with his fingers. He wanted me to follow him.

We walked for about 10 minutes, as it seemed, before we finally stopped at a boy who had dark skin. Newt spoke some words to him and he nodded along. He stole a few glances at me and continued to chat with Newt.

I didn't know where I was, who I was, what is going on, or why can't I hear. It was like my memory was erased. Wait, was it?

The dark skin boy walked away and soon came back with paper and a black chalk. Newt smiled and took the items. Newt wrote more words on the paper, explaining where I am and what's going on. And after that, he told me that I would get more help from the other Gladers since I am unable to hear. He told me about the rules and the jobs and about WICKED.

Even if I am deaf, nothing will stop me from getting out of the Maze and help destroying WICKED. Nothing.
