The Council of Allies
That evening, Kael and Elara convened a council of their closest allies—leaders from neighboring villages who had been part of the growing network of peace they had built. Around the large wooden table, the mood was somber as each leader shared news of the growing unrest.
“We’ve seen strange movements in the forests,” said Lira, a fierce woman from the eastern settlement. “Groups of armed men, moving like shadows, recruiting people by force. They’re targeting villages like ours, where people live freely.”
Elara clenched her fists. “This can’t continue. If they manage to divide us, everything we’ve built will fall apart.”
Kael stood at the head of the table, his presence commanding. “We have to unite, not just in spirit but in action. We’ve survived before by standing together, and we will do so again. But this time, we need to be ready for a different kind of fight.”
The council agreed, and plans were quickly set in motion. Villages would fortify their defenses, communicate regularly, and send scouts to monitor the movements of this rising faction. They would prepare for war, but their goal would remain peace. Kael and Elara vowed to protect what they had built, no matter the cost.
