Suddenly, a strange force pulled me back.

In an instant, I was beside Song Xu once again.
I was confused.

I tried to walk back toward my grave, but as soon as I moved a certain distance from Song Xu, I was forcibly drawn back to him.

Utterly perplexed, I racked my brain for answers.

I'd heard that if someone died with lingering attachment, their soul would stay by the side of the person tied to that attachment, refusing to leave.

But I had no attachment! Song Xu had already thrown himself into Princess's arms—what attachment could I possibly have left?
All I wanted was to quickly go to the underworld, down a bowl of Meng Po's soup, and joyfully reincarnate!

If it wasn't attachment, then what was it?

I looked back at my grave.

A small, barren mound of earth.

Oh, right—the gravestone! I didn't have a gravestone!

That had to be it; that's why I couldn't go to the underworld!

Damn you, Song Xu, so eager to rush back and flatter Princess that you didn't even bother to give me a gravestone.

I kicked and cursed beside him, but he simply climbed into Princess's carriage with a smile on his face.

As soon as he got into the carriage, Princess leaned in with a smile, pressing herself close to him.

Song Xu did not refuse, letting her half-lie in his embrace, taking advantage of the moment.

I couldn't stand it any longer and, fuming with anger, I climbed up to sit on the carriage roof.

The carriage passed through familiar streets and soon approached the Song residence.

In the distance, I saw two familiar figures kneeling on the ground, crying out.

"Give me back my daughter! Give me back my daughter!"

Their voices, filled with heart-wrenching sorrow, reached me from afar.
My heart tightened—it was my father and mother!

I hurriedly floated over to them.

They were dressed in mourning clothes, kneeling at the gate of the Song residence, their fists pounding until they bled.

But the gates of the Song residence remained tightly shut, with no one acknowledging them.

I tried to help them up, but my hands passed right through their bodies, over and over again.

Helpless, I knelt beside my parents, uncertain of how to aid them.

Suddenly, Princess's carriage stopped in front of the gate.

She lifted the curtain and coldly declared, "What kind of rustic bumpkins dare act so insolently in front of the Prince Consort's residence? Guards, drag them away and behead them!"

At her words, my heart clenched, and I rushed to the carriage, cursing her with all I had.

But just as I began, a strange heat coursed through my body.

Oh no, I was about to turn into a vengeful ghost.

If I became a vengeful ghost, I would claim Princess's life. But if I took a life, I would never be able to reincarnate.

Yet, if I could save my parents, what did it matter if I couldn't reincarnate?
Just as I was devising a way to kill Princess, Song Xu suddenly spoke.

"Your Highness, today is a day of great joy for us. It would be best not to witness bloodshed."

Princess's expression softened instantly.

She leaned lazily against the window, narrowing her eyes.

"Then what do you suggest?"

"Yun Niang's parents are simple country folk. Let's send them back to their village, forbidding them from ever entering the city again," Song Xu replied. "I'm willing to handle this matter on your behalf, Your Highness."

"Fine, just be quick about it," Princess said, letting the curtain fall.

Song Xu got out of the carriage and walked over to my parents.

When they saw him, they went wild, beating him with their fists.

"You begged us to let Yun'er marry you! After she married you, she waited for years in an empty room. And now that you've finally returned to the capital, she's dead! You heartless wretch, give Yun'er back to us!"

Their fists pounded on Song Xu's chest like raindrops, but he only looked down, silent and unresponsive.
