4:00 AM

Player awoke to the soft ticking of the clock and the dim glow of dawn filtering in through the window.

She lay still for a moment, listening to the quiet sounds of the school around her.

Jolene was fast asleep in the bed across the room, her soft breaths rhythmic and steady.

Player glanced at the empty bed nearby and realized that Milly was gone.

Choice A:

Player sits up quietly, careful not to disturb Jolene. Reaching into her bag, she pulls out her book she bought and a pen.

The soft scratch of the pen against the paper fills the silent room as she begins to write..

"Day 2: It's hard to believe I'm actually here hehe. Everything feels so surreal. Milly and Jolene are nice, but... What if they're just being polite? What if I never really belong? I want to try harder to be brave, but it feels like I'm standing at the edge of something huge and terrifying."

..And drew a small doodle of herself in the bottom.

She pauses, staring at the words on the page.

The act of writing feels oddly soothing, as if putting her thoughts into words makes them less overwhelming.

She closes the journal and sets it aside, her mind feeling a little lighter as she settles back into bed.

Choice B:

Player stares at the ceiling, her thoughts racing as she tries to calm herself.

(..Why does it feel like the whole world is on my shoulders right now? What if I'm not good enough? What if this was all a mistake?)

She shifts under the covers, glancing at the clock. It's too early to get up, but too late to fall back asleep.

Jolene stirs slightly in the bed across the room, but remains asleep. The soft rhythm of her breathing is comforting, yet it does little to ease Player's anxiety.
