Zee POV
I was on edge all day. Every year, as this week approaches, I can't help but feel irritated by everything. Everyone knows not to mess with me this week. It's been four years since he disappeared, and I still don't know what happened to him. Even Lian gets grumpy or rather guilty around this time because he knows it's his fault.
I've tried every possible way to connect with the boy's dreams, but it seems to only work when I'm nearby. I've become obsessed with scents, trying to find his fragrance with hints of vanilla and jasmine. Sometimes, in my dreams, it feels like he's within reach, but it's just a fervent wish.
I never figured out why he disappeared back then. I treated him well, saved him from that hell, and then he vanished without a trace. None of the other people who were with him knew anything about him; they said he was always kept separate. His entire presence there made no sense.
The door to my office opened, and my cousin Yi walked in. His short, dark hair was neatly styled, giving him an elegant and professional look. His eyes were cold and piercing, with a hint of authority that commanded respect. Every step he took was deliberate and confident, as if he had everything under control.
The sharp features of his face, the prominent jawline, and tightly pressed lips revealed no emotion. His perfectly fitting suit emphasized his authoritative stance, every detail of his appearance meticulously thought out. He stopped confidently and upright in the middle of the room, his presence undeniable.
Yi was the embodiment of a professional. His demeanor was always calm and composed, never showing any signs of uncertainty. He knew how to earn respect and trust, not just with his appearance but also with his actions. Every word he spoke was carefully chosen, every move had a purpose. It was clear he was used to having things under control and was ready to face any challenge that might come his way.
"Zee, are you lost in thought again?" he asked cautiously, knowing that I wasn't in the mood for jokes at this time.
I didn't answer him and turned my chair to face away from him, admiring the view from my office.
Yi POV
I leaned against the desk and looked at Zee, who seemed to be under immense pressure. "Zee, you need to blow off some steam," I began in a calm but firm voice. "I know you have a lot on your plate right now, but you can't keep stressing yourself out."
Zee looked at me with a slightly raised eyebrow and said sharply, "And what do you suggest? Should I take a vacation? Put a sign on the door saying 'Mafia unavailable today'?!"
I smiled. "Something better. I know we both love sports cars. How about we take a little trip? Pakin, you know Pakin loves fast cars and motorcycles, and he's organizing a race today. You know we don't have any issues with him, and we sometimes do business together. It will be a great opportunity not only to have fun but also to strengthen our relationships. You never know when it might come in handy."
Zee thought for a moment and shook his head. "A race? With Pakin? That sounds... interesting, but I don't know if it's a good idea. What if something goes wrong? And besides, I have so much work right now."
I shrugged. "Pakin is a professional. He knows how to organize a race without any problems. And besides, it will be a great opportunity to show what you're made of. You need to relax a bit and enjoy something you love."
Zee wasn't easily convinced. "Yi, I understand what you're trying to say, but now is not the right time. I have too many responsibilities and can't afford to take risks."
I frowned but didn't give up. "Zee, that's exactly why you need a break. If you keep going at this pace, you'll burn out. Just one race, nothing more. You can afford it."
