| Jailen |

From my bathroom, I could see Harry. He was lying on my bed, his eyes trained up at the ceiling, and if it wasn't for the subtle rise and fall of his stomach, I would've assumed he was dead.

Hayden had fallen asleep already. She had hardly made it through dinner or bath time, so I wasn't surprised when she was knocked out the moment her head hit the pillow.

Harry was very quiet and had been ever since we got back to my apartment. Hell, even when we were at his place, he was silent. I assumed he would've tried to beg me to stay again, but when he didn't even entertain the thought, I was convinced something was wrong.

I turned the light off and made my way over to the bed. I took a seat on the edge, my thigh barely brushing his. I swallowed harshly, deciding to rip the band-aid off, "I know where you were today." He didn't say anything, but I couldn't help but notice the way his breathing stopped for a second. I kept my eyes forward, staring at the empty bathroom, "Hayden doesn't leave out any details."

"Fuck," He murmured, sitting up and leaning forward so that his elbows were resting on his knees. With his head buried in his hands, he inhaled sharply, "I just wanted to clear some shit up with him before I-..."

He trailed off and I frowned, "Before you what?"

"Forget it," He waved me off as he stood up and walked out of the room.

And I almost did. Almost.

Against my better judgment, I decided to follow him, a familiar feeling settling in my chest as I did, "Harry?"

I followed him into the living room just as he turned to stare at me, "Just leave it alone, Jailen. I'm not in the mood for it right now."

"Well, I'm in the mood for you to explain how you put our daughter in danger today!" I shrugged. My hands were beginning to shake, so I rested them on my stomach in hopes of finding some sort of comfort.

Harry flinched, his eyes narrowed on me, "What?"

"I want the whole story, Harry. I don't want to know what happened from the words of a fucking 4-year-old! I deserve that, at least?" I all but pleaded.

"And I want you to leave the fucking situation alone," He snapped.

"No!" I adjusted my stance to block him from moving, "Our daughter-"

"I know! I fucking know, Jailen!" Harry yelled, "It was stupid, I KNOW THAT! You don't have to remind me, Jesus Christ!"

I stared at him, "Someone needs to remind you. Maybe then you'll at least apologize."

He glared at me, an emotion swirling in his eyes that almost made me feel guilty for pressing the issue. But, Hayden's story was concerning and I'll be damned if I just brush it off when her father was the one with her today. He was the adult.

"What exactly am I apologizing for, Jailen?" He asked, his accent thick with irritation.

"For taking our daughter to meet that fucking psychopath!" I yelled, angry that he was acting as if he was innocent, "For lying? For risking her goddamn life? I don't know, one of those!"

I could feel the anger radiating off of him as he continued to glare at me. Seconds passed, maybe even minutes before he spoke, "If you know what I'm sorry for, why should I have to say it?"
