Prompt - Charlotte and Roger have an interaction.

AUTHOR = cqptivating

Roger Knight. A disgusting, power hungry, controlling man. He made it his life mission to ruin the lives of everyone around him. His own children suffered years of abuse at his hands. His partners have always ended up in controlling and uncomfortable situations they would rather not be in.

There was one person that had suffered endlessly at the hands of Roger, Amelia Roberts. He has groomed her since she was a little girl, promising her things that he could not provide. Mia was incredibly close with both Autumn and Reece, Roger's children. Consequently she ended up spending a lot of time around him. She trusted him. Way more than she should have.

When Mia's dad left with Roger's wife she went to him, hoping desperately that he would have the answers. She didn't want to believe that her dad would abandon her. There had to be another explanation. He didn't want to leave her.

Everyone in Mia's life always left her though. She had no control over anything in her life. Not even her relationship.

Roger had promised her information on her dad if she dated Reece and kept him on a tight leash. She agreed because she was desperate to please this man. Her desperation for answers on her dad ruined all morals she had. She loved Reece but not romantically. He was a really good friend to her throughout their entire childhood. Unfortunately, those memories were now tainted. Reece and Mia were never happy in their relationship, they had some good times but there were never any genuine romantic feelings. Being forced into this relationship for over 20 years ruined any remaining hopes they had for the future.

The pair never thought they would find genuine love and connection. That was until Reece met Marjorie and Mia met Charlotte. After this the pair promised to never go back to each other, no matter what Roger was threatening. It wasn't worth losing them. They had to take control back of their own lives even if it destroyed them.

Since Mia met the brunette she couldn't bare the thought of losing her. They healed a deep part of each other that they didn't even break. They worked through everything, they swore to never suffer alone again.

Charlotte was absolutely enamoured with Mia. She had heard everything that Roger had put her through and it broke her heart. Charlotte was the first person Mia fully trusted herself to be vulnerable with. She knew that the brunette would never judge her for her past. She felt so safe with her. They truly saved one another.

Charlotte was spiraling when she met Mia. She had just experienced the breakdown of her marriage and was falling apart trying to navigate her new life. She almost didn't make it through. She hit rock bottom. She had nobody around to support her apart from her mean redhead. If it wasn't for Mia, Charlotte wouldn't have made it through. She was ready to give up, let everyone and their opinions on her win, but she couldn't leave Mia. She loved her too much. She finally felt safe with her, like they were the only people in the world.

When they were together nobody else mattered. Mia made Charlotte feel so special. They finally experienced true love after all the years of darkness. So nobody could blame Charlotte when she became defensive and protective over Mia.

Roger always made sly comments at the red head and they filled Charlotte with rage. He wanted Mia back being his puppet but he wasn't gonna get that. Mia had promised herself that she would never let him control her again. She went on holiday as much as possible to escape him. He had trapped her for years and controlled her, going away was her only way of coping. She hated feeling restricted and luckily she had the means to go wherever she wanted whenever she wanted.

Charlotte hated seeing her go but she knew that this was very important for Mia. She trusted her completely and knew that Mia just needed space to heal. She was more than happy to let her cope on her own terms, as long as she didn't forget her.

One particular day, Roger wanted to talk to Charlotte in his office. She was dreading this conversation. She knew it was going to be him threatening her for ruining his business, taking away his puppet. He had done this so many times and every time it just got more and more aggressive.

He is an incredibly impatient and controlling man and Mia not giving into him just made him want to hurt everyone she loved. Which unfortunately was Charlotte.

He would try and ruin Charlotte's life in every way possible. He would threaten her and her kids and even her job, trying to take away everything from her. He was attempting to destroy her.  Roger felt like she took away the one thing he could rely on. He thought Charlotte turned Mia against him. He had no idea that Mia had just finally come to her senses about how disgusting he is. She realised that Roger didn't have the answers she needed and finally accepted that her dad just didn't love her. That didn't matter to her anymore now that she'd met Charlotte. That is the only love she needs.

Charlotte didn't tell Mia about any of this, she didn't want to worry her. She didn't want Mia to feel like she was hurting her or scare her into going back to him. She just wanted Mia to be happy, even if that meant she had to be fearful of this older man and the connections he had.

Her final straw was when Roger threatened to hurt her children. She had a really hard time keeping that from Mia. She knew Mia would march over there and kill him with her own bare hands. However, she wanted to be the one to do it. Nobody threatens her babies and gets away with it.

To this meeting with Roger, Charlotte brought with her two coffees. She had taken note of what Roger likes to drink. She knew he wouldn't be able to resist.

"Hello Roger." Charlotte said in her usual chirpy tone as she entered the older man's office.

"Charlotte. Nice of you to finally join me." Roger rolled his eyes at the younger woman.

"Sorry, there was a hold up in the coffee shop. I brought you a black coffee, no sugar." Charlotte said as she handed the man his cup.

"Trying to butter me up won't work Charlotte." Roger said as he took a large sip of his coffee.

A grin spread across Charlotte's face as she watched him swallow the coffee. She sat across from him, listening to all of his complaints and threats. They didn't matter anymore. Nothing would matter as soon as the cyanide set in.

As Roger began to cough, it was Charlotte's turn to speak. "Oh Roger, you really thought you could get away with this? Threatening my children. Threatening the love of my life. You seriously underestimated me."

Roger began to cough up blood and Charlotte stood back watching. She wanted to watch him die. She had never been a violent person but hearing everything he did to Mia, how he groomed her and took advantage of her, changed that. It broke a deep part of Charlotte that only hurting that vile man would fix. He would never be a problem for Mia again.

As Roger's head hit the table, Charlotte turned to leave the room. "Fuck you."

She went home that night, a huge weight lifted off her shoulders. She could finally feel safe. Mia noticed her change in attitude but had no idea what caused it. As she held Charlotte in her arms watching her sleep, she couldn't help but smile. Mia didn't know the sacrifice that the brunette woman had just made for her.

Even the most powerful of men can be outsmarted.
