ღ Chapter 19 ღ

The Island Club was packed with people already, decorative lights everywhere with music blaring. Ward had made Sarah stay back with the family so they could all walk in together, which Sarah protested to but didnt win. Alyssa went in by herself, looking around for any of her friends. She spotted JJ in a tux, almost tripping over someone's foot, the tray of drinks wobbling but he managed to save them. He spotted her and gave her a small wink, and she gave him a smile and a wave. 

JJ had invited Alyssa to go surfing one day last week, like they always used too. JJ had apologized again, and Alyssa had decided it was time to forgive him, and honestly, she had missed him, as he was one of her best friends from day 1. They had been on good terms ever since, the group finally starting to come back together. 

Alyssa and Kie hadn't exactly sorted things out completely, but Kie spent a lot of her time at home in Figure 8, cause her parents kept putting her on house arrest for wandering off randomly. She planned on sorting things out with her eventually too for the sake of the group. They were already a month into summer, and they were planning to make the rest of it count. 

She spotted Pope and John B, standing around talking about something, both of them with drinks in their hands. 

"Since when did Pope Heyward drink?" she said making her way over to them with a smile. 

"Since right now," he said downing the rest of his drink. 

She raised her eyebrow and gave John B a glance, to which he shrugged and sipped his drink. 

The crowd got louder, cheering and whistling, making the three of them to look over and see the Cameron family walking in together. 

Alyssa's eyes immediately went to Rafe. He had his hair combed over, and a baby blue suit on, his hands stuffed in his pockets with a I-don't-wanna-be-here look on his face. Ward noticed and nudged his shoulder and he picked up his head a bit and looked around.  

Ward smiled and nodded at people as he made his way through the crowd, Rose with her hand wrapped around his arm. Rafe split ways with his family, finding his friends. Sarah made her way over with an eye roll and a groan. 

"I hate when dad makes us do that" she said, taking the cup out of John B's hand and taking a big gulp. Sarah and John B were as good as dating, and the two of them couldn't be happier. The only thing that could get between them was Topper, and he's been trying. He's overly jealous, and Alyssa has thought of going to his house just to slap him on multiple occasions. 

"Hey Kie," Pope said, causing everyone to look over. Kie had a long light purple dress on, her hair tied up and a flower crown sitting on her head. 

"Hey guys," she said with a smile, looking over at Alyssa out of the corner of her eye. Alyssa decided the best thing to do was just give a smile back, and she did. 

"Okay look," JJ said coming over and squeezing between Kie and Alyssa, tripping over Kie's dress. Both girls grabbed his arms and steadied him, looking around to make sure no one noticed, giving people awkward smiles. "This shit sucks, what do you say we just ditch and go back to the chateau, crack open a pack of beers-" he started before Kie interrupted. 

"No, my parents wont let me leave, and I'm pretty sure Sarah's wont either," she said looking at Sarah, to which Sarah gave a nod of agreement. 

"Welp, worth a try," he groaned before walking away, going to get more drinks to serve. 

The 5 of them danced, drank, and enjoyed the time hanging out together. It felt like summer had just now started. JJ came back every once in a while, checking in with them between working. He had offered, well, was forced by his dad, to serve drinks tonight to make some extra cash.
