The Exchanges between myself and James have gone on for quite a while now. Nothing bad. Just glances at each other, a sneaky wink here and there, a raised eyebrow and a flirty smirk. Like I said before - nothing bad. It's not like the fanart or the stories, it's just the little gestures and motions that go on between us. The Exchanges.

I don't remember exactly when it all started. Maybe when we became housemates, maybe when we got the office or maybe it all started as a joke. I can't remember. I can't remember the first Exchange. All I know is that we've kept it going and we both know that we mean it. But we can't act on it. I have Ashley and I love Ashley. I don't think I'll ever stop loving Ashley. And the guys... and the fans... it would be weird if we started dating. I think I'd rather just have our Exchanges.

I'll never stop liking James. I'll never forget our friendship or our hugs or our shenanigans. But most of all, I'll never forget the one and only time we kissed. It was a short and sweet embrace on my twenty-sixth birthday. As soon as we were completely alone he just came up to me and pressed his lips onto mine. It didn't last even a second but that didn't stop me liking it. It took all of my will power to stop myself from grabbing him and mashing our mouths together again. It takes all of my will power to do that everyday.

I like him but I love Ash, I prefer his kisses but I prefer... her on a whole. Or at least I think I do. That's the furthest we've gotten and that's as far as we'll ever get. We'll continue with our Exchanges and we'll continue to like each other, but we'll never act on those feelings any further. That's how it will always be. That's how it's always been.

If there's one thing I know about James is that he doesn't like change all that much. If there's one thing that I know about myself is that...

I will never forget our Exchanges.
