Chapter 1 Trying to Have a Family

Orko and Dree Elle had talked about starting a family as soon as possible after getting married. Both of them began to try to have a baby. But month after month for a year came back negative. "Another negative test Orko," Dree Elle said. "We have been trying for sometime too," she said. "I don't know what is going on," she said.

"I am not sure either, but we will have children you see," Orko said.

They were not sure what was wrong. "I don't understand, we have tried for a year and still no luck," Orko said to the other ringbearers when they asked how it was going for him and Dree Elle trying to start a family.

"That is a bit weird," Ero Dee said. "Young couples normally get pregnant easily," he said.

"Well maybe their is an infertility issue," Vana said. "As a woman who can't have children, I know that some young couples who don't conceive in a year might have that problem," she said.

"Okay I guess I will get it checked out," Orko said.

After that Orko and Dree Elle headed to Trolla to get tested. They made to see a special healer to see what was going on. Both Orko and Dree Elle are very nervous. First the healer did tests on Dree Elle. They checked many things about her to make sure she was able to have children. After the tests things looked normal. Dree Elle was perfectly able to get pregnant. "Dree Elle doesn't have infertility problems," the healer said.

"Is our timing off then?" Orko asked.

"Maybe, the might be it, but I would like to test you too Orko," the healer said. "Because sometimes the husband has the problem and can't get his wife pregnant," he said.

"Okay," Orko said. Orko was kind of nervous about this. Orko went through many tests. To see if everything was alright on his end. Orko was wondering if he was alright. He was wondering if he was the one with this problem. He hoped their timing was just off. He was worried though that he was the one with infertility. He was wondering if that was the case that Dree Elle might leave him.

Orko and Dree Elle were now waiting for his test results. Orko was very nervous and Dree Elle could tell and held his hand. Bothe of them were wondering what they were going to hear.

"I got Orko's test results," the healer said. "I am very sorry Orko but you are the one with infertility problems," he said. "You can't have children," he said.

Orko was devastated at this, he thought he was going to break down right there. Some tears came in view and Dree Elle hugged him. "Are you going to leave me?" Orko asked. He was very worried about that. He was dreading her answer.

"I would never do that Orko," Dree Elle said gently. She was surprised he would ask such a thing. "You are the love of my life," she said. She kissed him to prove the point. She loved her husband too much despite this diagnosis of infertility.

They started to head back to Eternia. Orko was very upset and once back home he just sat down in the garden under his favorite tree and closed his eyes. He was feeling very sad. He didn't say anything all and looked like it was the end of his joy. Dree Elle could see at the moment he wanted to be alone. She entered the palace by herself to give him some space, and the others greeted her. "You were gone longer than expected, how did it go?" Marlena asked.

"I got my test results and I am perfectly able to get pregnant and I don't have infertility issues," Dree Elle said. "The healer decided to do tests to see if everything was alright also for Orko and to make sure our timing was just off," she said. "But Orko's test results, he is the one who can't have children, he is sitting in the garden under tree he is very upset," she said. "I recall on Trolla he thought I might leave him, but I told him I would never do that he is the love of my life." She said. "I never seen him this upset," she said. "I have seen him very upset before for many reasons, but this is most upset I have seen him," she said. "It hurts me to see him like this," she said.
