Chapter 60
Mia's POV
*One Month Later*
"Incoming!" I heard Andy call as Kendyll waddled her way into the room.
"Hi cutie!" I exclaimed, picking her up and pulling her onto my lap. We were in Tennessee, celebrating Thanksgiving with my family. "Did you change her outfit?" I asked Andy, noticing her once pink shirt was now black.
"Yeah, she, uh, got the other one dirty," he said, seeming nervous.
"I don't think I've seen this shirt before," I said, noticing it had large white print on it.
"It's, uh, new," he said, clearing his throat. I pulled Kendyll back a little and read the words on her shirt.
"Mommy, will you marry my daddy?" I read out loud. I squinted as the gears in my brain refused to turn. I read it a few more times, the gravity of the words not sinking in. I heard Blaire gasp next to me and turned my head to look at her.
"What?" I questioned. Her hand was clasped over her mouth and her eyes were glassy with tears. She just pointed to the other side of the room where Andy was. I turned my head and tightened my grip on my daughter, my desperate attempt to not drop her. Blaire quickly reached over and grabbed Kendyll from me.
Where Andy once stood, he was now down on one knee. He was holding out a ring box that was opened to expose the diamond ring inside. He was looking at me with a hopeful look in his watery eyes and a huge smile on his face.
"Mia, we did things way out of order, but there's no one else I would've wanted to experience the last couple of years with. Will you help complete our family and agree to marry me?" he asked, his voice cracking. He extended his free hand towards me and I took it, standing from my spot on the couch.
"Of course I will, Andy," I said as tears began to fall from my eyes. He stood up and wrapped his arms around me, passionately kissing me. I placed my hands on either side of his face, deepening the kiss. We pulled away and he slipped the ring onto my finger.
"Oh my gosh, it's beautiful," I gushed as I admired it.
"A beautiful ring for a beautiful woman," he said, making me giggle.
"Oh my god!" Blaire exclaimed, handing Kendyll to my mom as she shot up from the couch and ran over to me, pulling me into a bone crushing hug.
"Hey, hey, don't kill my fiancée," Andy laughed, blush rising on my cheeks.
"Did y'all know?" I asked, looking at my family once Blaire let me go.
"No idea," Blaire and Archer said, shaking their heads.
"Andy woke up early your first morning here and asked for our blessing. Such a gentleman. Of course we said yes without hesitation. He's a wonderful father to Kendyll and an amazing partner for you," my dad said with a beaming smile.
"You little sneak," I smirked at Andy.
"Hey, perks of you enjoying to sleep in," he laughed.

Later that night, Andy and I were in our room, laying down for bed. I started a video call with Claire, making sure my face was in the frame.
"Hey, what's up?" she asked. Without a word, I flashed my ring at the camera. "OH MY GOD! FINALLY ANDY!" she screamed, her phone falling down.
"Did you know?" I asked.
"You think he'd propose to you without asking your best friend?" she asked with a laugh.
"Man, I feel like I'm the last to know," I laughed.
"That's kind of how a proposal is supposed to be," Claire laughed. "I'm so happy for both of you and we'll start planning when you get home Mia."
"Sounds like a plan," I said as we said our goodnights and hung up.
"How long have you been planning this?" I asked Andy.
"Well, I bought the ring the day after I met your parents," he said shyly.
"Andy! Kendyll wasn't even born! I was still in denial about my feelings for you!"
"Yeah, but when you know, you know," he shrugged with a shy smile. I leaned over and placed a soft kiss on his lips.
"I love you Andy and I can't wait to marry you."
"I love you too Mia and I can't wait either," he said, kissing me back.
