HARRY HAD INFORMED HERMIONE OF WHAT had happened with Malfoy on the Hogwarts Express. Ron was still adamant to the idea that he was showing off for Pansy, though, even Hermione was unsure — it seemed to true of a lie to tell — not to mention it was in depth, if it was all a facade, he must've known she would find out eventually.

"Well, enough of that," Alora groaned as they joined the queue to climb from the portrait hole, "we can talk about Ferret boy later—I don't want him ruining my first day."

"I love being a sixth year. We're going to be getting free time this year. Whole periods when we can just sit up here and relax." Ron drew, calming himself after watching the first-year boy fall as he distractedly gazed at Harry and Alora.

Hermione and Alora looked at each other with small grins.

"We're going to need that time for studying, Ron!" Hermione said, as they began to walk down the corridor.

"Yeah, but not today," Ron shrugged, "today's going to be a real doss, I reckon."

"Hold it!" Hermione spoke abruptly, throwing out an arm and halting a fourth-year in his tracks as he attempted to walk past her with a lime-green disc in his grasp. "Fanged Frisbees are banned, hand it over," she said firmly. The boy frowned and handed it over, once he was gone, Ron grabbed the Frisbee from Hermione's hand.

"Excellent, I've always wanted one of these."

Hermione's expostulation was short lived; overpowered by a loud giggle, Lavender Brown had seemingly found Ron's remark highly entertaining as she walked by, she glanced at him over her shoulder. Ron found a smirk upon his face.

Timetables were handed out at breakfast; Alora didn't have much of a hard time deciding which subjects to drop. She was finally given the option to drop Herbology — which she accepted immediately, as it was her worst O.W.L, despite working at it for months, she only managed to surpass an A.

"This is a monumental moment, Harry," Alora sighed in relief, placing her head in her hands, "I have officially finally dropped Herbology."

Harry laughed, "I would say I'm glad, but hearing you complain about it was rather entertaining."

"Shut up," Alora scoffed, grabbing her timetable from the table and smacking him on the arm.

"Black," Professor McGonagall sent her a stern look, Alora concealed her grin and put down her timetable. "Looks to me as though you are not continuing with Herbology—" Alora shook her head, "—right, well. . .Astronomy, Potions, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration. . .all very good, I was pleased with your performance, Miss Black."

"Thanks, Minnie," Alora smiled.

"And, Potter," Professor McGonagall turned to Harry. "Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Transfiguration. . .all fine. I must say, I was pleased with your Transfiguration mark, Potter, very pleased. Now, why haven't you applied to continue with Potions? I thought it was your ambition to become an Auror?"

"It was, but you told me I had to get an 'Outstanding' in my O.W.L, Professor."

"And so you did when Professor Snape was teaching the subject. Professor Slughorn, however, is perfectly happy to accept N.E.W.T students with 'Exceeds Expectations' at O.W.L. Do you wish to proceed with Potions?"
